Check the /usr/lib and /usr/include directories. If DES is installed on your system, the libdescrypt.a, libdescrypt_p.a, libdescrypt.so.2.0 libraries and des.h header file must be installed. You can also try : man des_crypt to see if the DES man pages are installed. Finally, you can try the bdes binary program. pbl
