okay ummm heres one, when connecting to a fresh 3.3 installed system via
ftp
i get 

 ftp XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
Connected to XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX


then 

about 60 seconds later i get a 


220 ftp.somehost.com FTP server (Version 6.00) ready.
Name (XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:username): 


why is it taking so long to prompt for login ???? any ideas ????
