It is possible, although I haven't used this on FreeBSD 7.0 yet (only on 5.x
and 6.x releases).

I'd also try this:

mkdir /mnttest
mount -t ext2fs /dev/ad0s8 /mnttest
ls /mnttest
file /mnttest
ls -la / | grep mnttest

and maybe also:

fdisk /dev/ad0
