If you install the cdrecord-port, you will find a newer version of mkisofs
included, which has to be installed manually (e.g. to /usr/local/bin ).

The current version (1.12b5) supports Joliet-Extensions. The binary is hidden in
/usr/ports/sysutils/cdrecord/work/cdrecord-1.8/mkisofs-1.12b5/OBJ/i386-freebsd-cc
