I have a rather vanilla installation of FreeBSD 4.2, which I loaded from the installation CD-ROM. Because I wanted to be able to look over the /usr/obj tree (without actually changing anything on the system, I went to /usr/src and (as root) did a "make buildworld". I was quite distressed to find that it failed, as: ... cc -O -pipe -DFREEBSD_NATIVE -DIN_GCC -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DPREFIX=\"/usr/obj/usr/sr c/i386/usr\" -I/usr/obj/usr/src/i386/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../cc_tools -I/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../cc_tools -I/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/ ../../../../contrib/gcc -I/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../../../../contrib/gc c/config -I/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../../../../contrib/gcc/cp -I. -I/u sr/obj/usr/src/i386/usr/include -c /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../../../../c ontrib/gcc/cp/method.c cc -O -pipe -DFREEBSD_NATIVE -DIN_GCC -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DPREFIX=\"/usr/obj/usr/sr c/i386/usr\" -I/usr/obj/usr/src/i386/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../cc_tools -I/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../cc_tools -I/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/ ../../../../contrib/gcc -I/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../../../../contrib/gc c/config -I/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../../../../contrib/gcc/cp -I. -I/u sr/obj/usr/src/i386/usr/include -c /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../../../../c ontrib/gcc/cp/pt.c cc: Internal compiler error: program as got fatal signal 11 *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src.
