Bogus major numbers are easy to get because `sysctl -w' doesn't handle dev_t's reasonably - it doesn't convert names to dev_t's and it converts the number 1025 to the dev_t 0x35323031. - Driver d_psize() functions return -1 to indicate error ENXIO or ENODEV (the interface is too braindamaged to say which). -1 was interpreted as a size and resulted in the bogus error ENOSPC. - it was possible to set the dumpdev for devices without a d_psize() function. This is equivalent to setting the dumpdev to NODEV except it confuses sysctl. - change a 512 to DEV_BSIZE. There is an official macro dtoc() for converting "pages" to disk blocks but it is never used in /usr/src/sys. There is much confusion between PAGE_SIZE sized pages and NBPG sized pages. Maxmem consists of both. Not fixed: - there is nothing to invalidate the dumpdev if the media goes away. This reduces the benefits of the early calculation of dumplo. Bounds checking in the dump routines is relied on to reduce the risk of damage and little would be lost by relying on the dump routines to calculate dumplo. - no attempt is made to stay away from the start of the device to avoid clobbering labels. Fix wrong && anachronistic comment about the type of bootdev. Thanks, I haven't had time to track down exactly which commands in probe_keyboard are hosing things up, but if I use a version or probe_keyboard() from February with the rest of the bootblocks normal my keyboard at least works. The CDIOREADTOCENTRYS call was ignoring both the start_track and data_len fields of the call and returning the whole table of contents regardless. This writes all over the stack of programs like workman and xcdplayer which read the contents one track at a time. I have included a patch which fixes it. The patch affects ONLY the CDIOREADTOCENTRYS ioctl of the matcd driver and will not affect any other part of the system, especially not the probe for the matcd device. The target slot doesn't move. "Remembering" the target slot was a no-op for files, but for directories it changed the target slot to slot of the "." entry in the source directory. Thus rename("a", "b/c") (where "a" is any directory and "b/c" is an empty directory) was essentially unlink("b/c"); rename("a/.", "a"); unlink("a"); where the middle rename corrupts "a/." and the final unlink detaches "a" and everything underneath it from the directory tree although not from the file system. For directories, the pseudo-inode number (de_dirclust, de_diroffset) is canonicalized to be (first cluster in directory, 0), so it doesn't change when directories are renamed. This was only partly handled by not doing anything for directories in reinsert(). It is hard to demonstrate bad effects of this bug. You can see an unnecessary cache miss by tracing msdosfs_hashget(). The cache entry is usually left on the wrong hash chain so it is very unlikely to match anything, and bogus cache entries go away in msdosfs_reclaim().
