I may have a few items to contribute. Immediately available are some hints on PPP configuration (the result of some work I did on my own home page) and on the configuration of E-mail systems for users of dial-up IP accounts. I have in the not-too-distant past written and published (in Dutch, for limited circulation) on the configuration of printer spoolers. I have also written in English and in Dutch about the installation and maintenance of uucp. I'd be willing to assist in preparing a chapter on PC Cards. Things I cannot write about include the weird and magic goings-on inside the kernel, name servers, routing and SCSI. I suppose that you have guidelines for writing documentation; I'd appreciate a copy if you think I can help. Some background: I am considerably older than Bill Gates and I have been playing around with Unix for ~7 years, on Altos-68K, Xenix-386, SVR4 (Consensys, > /dev/trash), Linux and FreeBSD (starting from 2.0). I made the switch from Linux to BSD because, while I'm always ready to tolerate or even encourage a measure of anarchy, I do not always enjoy the resulting mess. I have little formal training in CS and am not employed in this industry. I just happen to like computers as long as they run Unix. I cannot be bothered to learn C++ and program, if and when necessary, in C, Perl or (preferably) Tcl. cheers -- Jos Jansen J.P.Jansen@net.HCC.nl +31 71 3415740 *** FreeBSD 2.1 Inside ***
