Macker) Subject: IMM 3.5a1 Alpha Release and Test Cc: wkd@HAWAII.EDU Hello All: There is a new release, imm3.5a1, of the IMM reliable image dissemination application available at ftp://ftp.hawaii.edu/paccom/imm-3.5a1. IMM3.5a1 has been redesigned to include a number of new features. There is an sdr plug-in included which needs to be installed and will show up under media as image when sdr is launched. Presently binaries are available for a few platforms (irix, solaris, netbsd). Source is now available on the site also. SunOS should build with the Makefile provided. This code is not compatible with previous versions of IMM so please make sure the latest versions of imm and immserv are in your path. USUAL WARNING STUFF: The source code is alpha code and bug reports and porting assistance to presently unsupported platforms would be appreciated. It will also most likely change frequently over the next few months. xv and/or xloadimage are presently required for display of compressed image files or you can provide your own postprocessor desired if desired or just turn on archiving. While IMM is a generic reliable multicast file dissemination application, it presently will not launch from sdr without xv or xloadimage resident locally. This will be modified in a future release. See http://tonnant.itd.nrl.navy.mil/ipresearch/imm.html for more info. An initial MBone test session will be announced on sdr between now and 10am US EST tomorrow Tuesday, Nov 18, 1996 as "IMM 3.5a1 Test". This initial test should extend for a few days with around a 15 minute period between file updates. An Internet Draft of the informational type has been put out as ftp://ds.internic.net/internet-drafts/draft-macker-mdp-framework-00.txt. Thanks, -joe
