I needed to write some small interface programs to it under FreeBSD and i choosed the 'libdialog'. This library is good, but it's very slow to write dialogs with it. I spend 90% of the time constructing the dialog interface. But anyway I need unix interface (text or X). Does somebody know are there tools making this work faster & easier. (Something like PowerBuilder for instance ;) Thanks in advance. --ian To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-database" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-database Mon Oct 5 09:50:30 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id JAA08830 for freebsd-database-outgoing; Mon, 5 Oct 1998 09:50:30 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-database@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from fallout.campusview.indiana.edu (fallout.campusview.indiana.edu [149.159.1.1]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id JAA08821 for ; Mon, 5 Oct 1998 09:50:28 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from jfieber@fallout.campusview.indiana.edu) Received: from localhost (jfieber@localhost) by fallout.campusview.indiana.edu (8.9.1/8.9.1) with SMTP id LAA00488 for ; Mon, 5 Oct 1998 11:50:05 -0500 (EST) Date: Mon, 5 Oct 1998 11:50:05 -0500 (EST) From: John Fieber To: freebsd-database@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Sybase Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-freebsd-database@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk Those interested in running Sybase, running 3.0-BETA, and not bothered by bending a license agreement for testing purposes might be interested in the latest patches comitted to the linux emulator. -john To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-database" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-database Wed Oct 7 10:04:29 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id KAA29205 for freebsd-database-outgoing; Wed, 7 Oct 1998 10:04:29 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-database@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from www.hitti.com ([202.96.211.193]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id KAA28999; Wed, 7 Oct 1998 10:04:01 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from paulk@hitti.com) From: paulk@hitti.com Received: from mi.hitti.com (mi.hitti.com [192.168.1.10]) by www.hitti.com (8.8.8/8.8.8) with SMTP id BAA18012; Thu, 8 Oct 1998 01:00:57 +0800 (CST) (envelope-from paulk@hitti.com) Received: by mi.hitti.com(Lotus SMTP MTA SMTP v4.6 (462.2 9-3-1997)) id 48256696.005D760C ; Thu, 8 Oct 1998 01:00:23 +0800 X-Lotus-FromDomain: ITEC To: database@FreeBSD.ORG, hackers@FreeBSD.ORG Message-ID: <48256696.0047F9E6.00@mi.hitti.com> Date: Wed, 7 Oct 1998 21:08:02 +0800 Subject: Oracle 8 for Linux in FreeBSD Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Sender: owner-freebsd-database@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk After install it. A port would be relatively simple to make (and I'll probably do one in time), but given the current state of the license I'm not sure it would be good form to have it officially in the ports collection. Basically... The linux_lib-2.4 port won't cut it, you need a ld-linux.so.2 and a newer libc (at least, I have not nailed down exactly what is needed). As root you unpack the distribution using rpm2cpio. It expects to be in /opt/sybase and opt/sybase is in the filnames in the rpm file. Create a sybase user (home directory /opt/sybase) and group. As root, run the /opt/sybase/install/setperm_all, this fixes all the file ownership an permissions in the sybase tree. Log in as sybase...it will automagically run the sybinit program to setup a database. OR, run /opt/sybase/install/sybint manually after setting the environment variables appropriately (see ~sybase/.profile). -john To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-database" in the body of the message
