Has anyone else experienced similar? The system locks up and because the drive is exported and mounted on many different machines those machines fall over as well. It's bloody annoying :-/ I realise mounting the drive as soft on the NFS client machines would stop /those/ falling over but squid would still error and I'd prefer to stop it crashing all together. I'm having a hard time getting the first machine to have an uptime in excess of 14days! Is there a bug in getting quota's to work on an NFS exported system? (I've not put rpc.quotad on the other machines yet, mainly because i can't the quotas to work on the first machine) The first machine has /export mounted as userquota (the array) but a quotaon or repquota -a will cause any disk access to freeze the machine. Edquota works fine but once the data is saved, a 'quota' on the same user will show the un-saved results. /export/quota.user exists and appears to be fine. There's quite a bit of traffic going between the machines but they are on their own switched 100mbps hub, the above machines act as squid proxy servers with all the cache information stored on the array in seperate directories and linked as a sibling hierarchy to a parent upstream from us. You can't, and if you could then you shouldn't. If you have a legit reason, ask the provider. If they don't want you to, you don't have a legit reason. I actually use a script that will extract usernames from /etc/passwd, then mail out the file to each username. Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Would it be dangerous to use /usr/bin/passwd as a shell for users? I would prefer not to give interactive shells by default, but would like to give them an easy way to change their passwords. I'm too paranoid to use a web-based password changer. What about a shell script that printed some information and then ran passwd? Wil -- W. ( The Sendmail book page 280 ) there is a masquerade_as that can be used in the m4 stuff. This may vary but I believe the default /etc/sendmail.cf file has this ability so all you would need to do is define DM. In the 2.2.6 machine I just finished the line looks like this : # who I masquerade as (null for no masquerading) (see also $=M) DM To make is masq. as foobar.com ( even though the machine is mail.foobar.com ) the line would look like : # who I masquerade as (null for no masquerading) (see also $=M) DMfoobar.com you may also want to take note of the CE and CL items a few lines above that. These tell sendmail not to masquerade mail for certain users ( by default root ). I don't claim to be all knowing on the sendmail front, but I do believe all of the above should work fine. ( Although I'd test it a bit before trusting it too much :-) Joseph Scott jmscott@ainet.com At 02:04 PM 7/15/98 -0400, Intuitive Design Archive wrote: >Hello all; > > Simple question with sendmail... > > How can one send out all mails from a particular network to show >as blah@somedomain.com instead of blah@host.somedomain.com; in other words >change all outgoing mail to have just the domain name on the outgoing >emails? > > >Thanks >Tamer > > >To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org >with "unsubscribe freebsd-isp" in the body of the message > > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isp" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isp Wed Jul 15 15:25:52 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id PAA26326 for freebsd-isp-outgoing; Wed, 15 Jul 1998 15:25:52 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from ns.csis.hku.hk (ns.csis.hku.hk [147.8.178.10]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id PAA26288 for ; Wed, 15 Jul 1998 15:25:46 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from ctkwan@ns.cs.hku.hk) Received: from champion (champion.csis.hku.hk [147.8.177.11]) by ns.csis.hku.hk (8.8.7/8.8.7) with SMTP id GAA14573 for ; Thu, 16 Jul 1998 06:23:51 +0800 (HKT) From: Doug Kwan ~{9XUq5B~} Received: by champion (4.1/S2.0-sunos4) id AA20347; Thu, 16 Jul 98 06:22:16 HKT Date: Thu, 16 Jul 98 06:22:16 HKT Message-Id: <9807152222.AA20347@champion> To: freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: unsubscribe Sender: owner-freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isp" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isp Wed Jul 15 15:26:49 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id PAA26607 for freebsd-isp-outgoing; Wed, 15 Jul 1998 15:26:49 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from champion.csis.hku.hk (champion.csis.hku.hk [147.8.177.11]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with SMTP id PAA26432 for freebsd-isp@freebsd.org; Wed, 15 Jul 1998 15:26:15 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from ctkwan@cs.hku.hk) Date: Wed, 15 Jul 1998 15:26:15 -0700 (PDT) From: ctkwan@cs.hku.hk Message-Id: <199807152226.PAA26432@hub.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: hub.freebsd.org: champion.csis.hku.hk [147.8.177.11] didn't use HELO protocol Subject: unsubscribe To: undisclosed-recipients:; Sender: owner-freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isp" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isp Wed Jul 15 17:07:25 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id RAA09718 for freebsd-isp-outgoing; Wed, 15 Jul 1998 17:07:25 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from www.communique.no (www.communique.no [193.212.204.33]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with SMTP id RAA09713 for ; Wed, 15 Jul 1998 17:07:23 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from are@communique.no) Received: (qmail 15637 invoked by uid 1001); 16 Jul 1998 00:13:16 -0000 Date: Thu, 16 Jul 1998 02:13:16 +0200 (CEST) From: Are Bryne X-Sender: are@rune.communique.no To: freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG cc: Are Bryne Subject: Motorola CyberSURFR Message-ID: Organization: Communique DA MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8BIT Sender: owner-freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org [Please keep Are Bryne cc'd] Hello, Does anyone have any experience using the Motorola CyberSURFR w/FreeBSD 2.2-stable? Hi, I've modified mail.local(8) to use a db(3) database to store user mailbox limits. There's a `default' entry for most users, and then you can specify other limits/unlimited for certain users.
