I'm sure there's a better answer than mine, but check if you've got a LD_LIBRARY_PATH set; this determines (I think) where shared libraries are looked for. > Do anybody know if there is another place where it can be found JDK for BSD? IBM's Jikes is meant to be a really fast replacement for Sun's 'javac'. Not sure if you can get this on BSD 3.1 though. Check out their site. Having said that, I'm not even sure what BSD 3.1 is :) If you're actually running a FreeBSD OS and are still having problems then reply to this and we'll go from there; otherwise there may be a BSD31-Java list somewhere. > Thank you in advance for your attention. > > Cynthia Joe To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-java" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-java Fri Oct 16 00:01:39 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id AAA22509 for freebsd-java-outgoing; Fri, 16 Oct 1998 00:01:39 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from bandicoot.prth.tensor.pgs.com (bandicoot.prth.tensor.pgs.com [157.147.224.1]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id AAA22504 for ; Fri, 16 Oct 1998 00:01:37 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from shocking@ariadne.prth.tensor.pgs.com) Received: from ariadne.tensor.pgs.com (ariadne [157.147.227.36]) by bandicoot.prth.tensor.pgs.com (8.8.8/8.8.8) with SMTP id PAA16907 for ; Fri, 16 Oct 1998 15:01:16 +0800 (WST) Received: from ariadne by ariadne.tensor.pgs.com (SMI-8.6/SMI-SVR4) id PAA15047; Fri, 16 Oct 1998 15:01:16 +0800 Message-Id: <199810160701.PAA15047@ariadne.tensor.pgs.com> X-Mailer: exmh version 2.0.2 2/24/98 To: freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Anyone tried Javatutor from Sun yet? Something is wrong with your setup, since the java script in .../bin/java sets the LD_LIBRARY_PATH for you. If you have to set it then something is wrong in your setup.
