Exciting Job opportunities at Bell Labs Research

We are looking for experienced and self-motivated people to participate
in the hardware and software design and development of a new IP networking
device. This new device is targeted for enterprise use, and it integrates
many advanced networking capabilities into a single box.

We welcome applications from contractors, consultants, or people seeking
permanent employment. The project involves both research and development.

Specifically, we are looking people with the following skill:

Software Developer: Unix Kernel (2)
===================================

- familiar with BSD-based kernel
  (FreeBSD experience preferred)
- understanding of memory management
- understanding of system startup (booting) and configuration
- familiar with TCP/IP networking
  (basic understanding of materials in TCP/IP Illustrated, Vol 2)

Software Developer: Unix Device Driver (2)
==========================================

- familiar with BSD-based kernel
  (FreeBSD experience preferred)
- experience in driver development for
  * PCI I/O devices
  * PCMCIA device (flash card)

Software Developer: Communication Protocols (2)
===============================================

- familiar with WAN protocols (signaling)
  * frame relay, PPP, ISDN
- experience in low-level protocol development
  * HDLC
  * frame relay - RFC 1490, LMI
  * PPP - RFC 1471, 1473, 1661
- familiar with TCP/IP

Software Developer: Embedded Programming (2)
============================================

- embedded programming experience in C or C++
- cross-platform development experience
- familiar with one of the following processors:
  * Pentium, PowerPC, MIPS

Software Developer: Software Tools (1)
======================================

- familiar with software development tools
  * version control
  * embedded system development tools
  * cross-platform development tools

Software Developer: Application Programming (2)
===============================================

- extensive Unix application programming experience
- strong experience in: C, C++, Java (optional)
- familiar with POSIX standards
  * threads, signals, IPC
- experience in network programming
  * TCP/IP, sockets

Software Developer: User Interface (2)
======================================

- experience in Java programming
  * JDK 1.1
  * JFC/Swing good
- understanding of CGI
- experience in Java network programming

Network Software Engineer (2)
=============================

- experience in the implementation of 
  * OSPF
  * IPsec, L2TP
  * BGP (optional)
  * SNMP

Network Administrator (1)
=========================

- administration experience in
  * routing (OSPF networks)
  * firewall (e.g., checkpoint)
  * VPN
- experience in configuring Cisco
- experience in setting up Internet access to ISP
- experience in network management tool
