I'm unsure what's possible with this card as of now with all existing drivers. What I would like is multi-channel WAV support (for games like Maelstrom) and MIDI support, if possible. Also, I'd like to use X11Amp (which I haven't tested yet in my current config). Is this presently impossible with current drivers (i.e. until creativelabs send the specs to Luigi) or are there a few workarounds that can be done? Thanks! Luigi pointed out it wasn't getting its DMA right from the BIOS. I noticed PnP was detecting the card and assigning IRQ-9 when I had reserved IRQ-5 for an ISA card in the BIOS. So I changed BIOS settings so only IRQ 10 and no DMA are reserved for ISA. PnP now assigns IRQ 5, DRQ 1 and 3, to my sound card. But still doesn't play sounds right. dmesg says: Probing for PnP devices: CSN 1 Vendor ID: CSCd925 [0x25d9630e] Serial 0xffffffff Comp ID: @@@0000 [0x0000 0000] mss_attach 1 at 0x530 irq 5 dma 1:3 flags 0x13 pcm1 (CS423x/Yamaha sn 0xffffffff) at 0x530-0x537 irq 5 drq 1 flags 0x1 3 on isa n4hhe: {1027} cat /dev/sndstat FreeBSD Audio Driver (981002) Nov 11 1998 17:42:32 Installed devices: pcm1: at 0x530 irq 5 dma 1:3 sequencer1: at 0x388 (not functional) n4hhe: {1028} Hurray! That was the gist of my questions about other peripherials possibly interfering. My STB 4-COM board is not using 0x388. Don't believe anything else is either. Or maybe I'm wrong? Matrox Mill II 8MB. Asus SC875 (Symbios '875 SCSI). Adaptec 2940. Intel 10/ 100B. AOpen AW37. And STB 4-COM. > In any case, idon't have the AW37 so i don't know if > there is a problem with the card or with your setup. Basing on > feedback from other users, i think the AW37 works fine with the pcm > driver, but let's see if someone else confirms this. Oh, I agree, I expect the AW37 works perfectly, and I'm having a PC related problem convincing your driver to do the right thing. I skimmed thru the Crystal Semiconductor PDF manuals before purchasing. If memory serves me correctly the only difference between CS4235 and CS4237 is the CS4235 (on AOpen's AW37) doesn't have hardware wavetable support which the CS4237 (on AOpen's AW35) does. The card did play nicely once when the PCM driver thought it was a SoundBlaster. Isn't that Just Like A PC Shop to cross up the numbers like AOpen did? Got 35 and 37 exactly crossed. Next time I get the notion to reboot I'll go visit NT and see if it will tell me something I didn't know about my AW37. And we'll see if it survived my BIOS reconfig. -- David Kelly N4HHE, dkelly@nospam.hiwaay.net ===================================================================== The human mind ordinarily operates at only ten percent of its capacity -- the rest is overhead for the operating system. Many HP scanners have a 'slide' option that you can buy. I also have a Kodak slide scanner. (lil weird looking thing that you pop slides into and it scans) These are professional quality systems for photographers who use slides for their color/resolution characteristics, not for someone who has vacation photo's on slides. :) Kevin To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-multimedia" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-multimedia Wed Nov 18 11:39:20 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id LAA26015 for freebsd-multimedia-outgoing; Wed, 18 Nov 1998 11:39:20 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from resnet.uoregon.edu (resnet.uoregon.edu [128.223.144.32]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id LAA26004 for ; Wed, 18 Nov 1998 11:39:10 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from dwhite@resnet.uoregon.edu) Received: from localhost (dwhite@localhost) by resnet.uoregon.edu (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id LAA17163; Wed, 18 Nov 1998 11:38:18 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from dwhite@resnet.uoregon.edu) Date: Wed, 18 Nov 1998 11:38:18 -0800 (PST) From: Doug White To: "Andrew A. When I was in Tokyo, I was shown a Toshiba libretto running FreeBSD and the control software for it (which I believe used Tk for the interface) by Konica's representative. A surprisingly freebsd-friendly company for a change! :) Wish I could remember the make and model of the film scanner, but perhaps some of our japanese members can comment on it. There were a number of us admiring this at a dinner I went to and hopefully somebody's memory is better than mine (not difficult) ;-) - Jordan To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-multimedia" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-multimedia Sat Nov 21 16:32:43 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id QAA09055 for freebsd-multimedia-outgoing; Sat, 21 Nov 1998 16:32:43 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from friley-185-114.res.iastate.edu (friley-185-114.res.iastate.edu [129.186.185.114]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id QAA09049 for ; Sat, 21 Nov 1998 16:32:41 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from ccsanady@friley-185-114.res.iastate.edu) Received: from friley-185-114.res.iastate.edu (loopback [127.0.0.1]) by friley-185-114.res.iastate.edu (8.9.1/8.9.1) with ESMTP id SAA02887 for ; Sat, 21 Nov 1998 18:32:10 -0600 (CST) (envelope-from ccsanady@friley-185-114.res.iastate.edu) Message-Id: <199811220032.SAA02887@friley-185-114.res.iastate.edu> X-Mailer: exmh version 2.0.2 2/24/98 To: multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Fxtv audio capture with current..
