Currently, www.freebsd.org is served partly by hub, by using apache 1.3's reverse proxy feature (freefall takes the request, and forwards it to hub). It appears that both freefall and hub have recently been rebooted; most likely, when you tried, freefall was up but hub wasn't. This reminds me that I always wanted to set up a few error pages...
