Can anybody explain how to work with Emacs in SGML mode ? Actually how get indenting feature to work for HTML and DocBook. For now I can load appropiate mode but no indenting happens. I have Emacs 20.3.1 with X toolkit, from ports. Perhaps a little warning is necessary, I'm very new to Emacs overall. In the interests of promoting non-perl solutions I suggest that an alternative answer be provided. An amendment like the following would do:

Alternatively you can use the tr command:

        tr -d '\r' <old >new

On my FreeBSD system using tr is about 10 times faster than using perl. (Though note that the two alternatives don't do quite the same thing).

If possible, you can point out to my home page at http://surw.chel.su/~andy/index.html. It contains also my effort of "Russian Q&A for FreeBSD" (can I submit it as doc/ru/QA?). I know minimum two guys that wanna start Handbook translation, but I think we must have at least one committing account for easy incorporating our work to CVS tree. Sincerely yours, Andy. If the highest defined rule number is greater than 65534, new rules are appended to the last rule. As part of this it introduces tools and commands such as CVS, make(1), patch(1), and the PBM utilities. I have written the first drafts of the first two articles in the series, and I am looking for people who would be interested in reviewing, commenting and criticising them. Each article is (currently) roughly 5,000 words in length. I would especially value comments from people who have not used these tools before -- it is difficult to know whether or not I have pitched the level of the description correctly. If you are interested in reviewing and providing feedback on these two articles, please e-mail nik@freebsd.org. Many thanks.
