Confirmed. The signature is right, but the filename is wrong in the CHECKSUMS.MD5 file. Jordan, could you fix that? It's in the directory "~ftp/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/ISO-IMAGES/". While you're there, how about deleting the compressed version "3.3-install.cd0.gz"? It is only 2.6% smaller than the uncompressed image which is also there. It hardly seems worth using up 627 MB of space for that. :-) Thanks, John -- John Polstra jdp@polstra.com John D. Polstra & Co., Inc. There is no informations about rsync on this page You appear to be correct. Sounds like you should submit a problem report on the documentation. And, of course, if and when you get it running, you could submit another problem report with patches to fix the documentation. You might want to start with the freebsd-hubs mailing list; I believe there *are* people using rsync to mirror the FreeBSD collections, and that is where they would probably discuss it. rsync may not be as efficient in network bandwidth as cvsup, but a lot of people either can't get cvsup through particularly restrictive firewalls or just haven't gotten around to updating it. That's because I couldn't find the mirror manager man on freebsd page. I'd like you to pass this email to him. Thanks a lot ! -------------------------------------- Well, first of all, congratulations for the huge ammount of freebsd mirrors you have. In Brazil ( my dear country ) we have at least six !!! BUT, and always a but, the mirrors here are extremely old. They don't seem to be updated anymore ! In one of the mirrors, we don't have any 3 release. Just 2.8 ...... that's pretty old ! Another thing ... only a few mirrors hold the ISO files. And only a few of those have the updated ISO images. The newest ( from Oct 1 ) can be found in only three of four mirrors I found ....... i'm actually downloading it from Argentina, 'cause none on Brazil have it. I'd like to ask you to get the mirrors hostmasters to work and make all the mirrors up to date ! That's it ! Thanks for your attention ! Yes, we need to remove some of them, from the list now I know that: ftp.br.freebsd.org (ufrj.br) is up to date ftp2.br.freebsd.org (matrix.com.br) is up to date ftp3.br.freebsd.org (unicamp.br) is up to date ftp4.br.freebsd.org (RNP) seems to be dead since their lost the sysadmin ftp5.br.freebsd.org (GNS.com.br) stoped to mirror since 2.2.5 ftp6.br.freebsd.org (ufrj.br) seems to be dead too I have a substitute for ftp4 on another site but the only solution for 5/6 is to remove them from DNS and alias to 1/2, but this take us to another problem, I don't know why but root.cdrom.com seems unable to refresh the DNS maps for br.freebsd.org since 1999060700: dig @who.cdrom.com br.freebsd.org soa br.freebsd.org. 86400 SOA ns1.br.freebsd.org. hostmaster.br.freebsd.org.
