From what I can tell it probes up on PCI okay but nothing can talk to it. The boot -v output is a little too verbose to be helpful, the ID info scrolls off. I've tried shuffling cards around, etc., no luck. This is a Toshiba 6200M (yeah, that one) with the onboard 2940 SCSI and an ATI RageII+DVD. I've tried an ATI Mach64GT-based board with no change. From my ~/.mailcap: audio/mpeg;/home/olli/bin/mp3-play %s audio/x-mpegurl;/home/olli/bin/m3u-play %s mp3-play and m3u-play are wrapper scripts that open an iconified xterm with mpg123 in it, with the proper options etc., let me know if you're interested in details. Basically, mp3-play looks like this (simplified): #!/bin/sh - exec xterm -iconic -e mpg123 -b2000 "$@" Some (old) servers return audio/x-mpeg instead of audio/mpeg, so you could add another line for that type. After replacing my old Chaintech 5IFM1 HX-based board with a Tyan Trinity (Apollo chipset) it worked. It seems that the HX thing wasn't able to transfer the data of the hauppauge card to the memory fast enough. Unfortunatly wmtv is a Video4Linux TV viewing application. Video4Linux is the API the Linux frame grabbers use. It is common across several grabbers including the linux bt848 driver (called bttv). FreeBSD's does not support Video4Linux (or Video4Linux2) system calls, so this application and the many other V4L Linux TV applications will not run on FreeBSD. I did start writing Video4Linux support in the bt848 driver, but I never finished the project. I no longer have time to work on it. CALL FOR HACKERS:::: If someone else wants to port the video4linux API to FreeBSD, I'll gladly help. I got part of it done with an LKM on my old 2.2.6 machine at home, but I never completed it. The trouble is, I don't seem to be able to get the netscape configuration process to work completely. I had some help, and I was told I needed to use the mailcap file to tell Netscape about the mime type and the application I want to use. I *think* this part is working, because when I draw up the preferences screen in Netscape, it knows about the file type, and does tell me it wants to use amp. The problem is telling it what kind of file extension to scan for. I was told, so far, that I wanted to use the .mime.types file to do that. I've had no luck in this, so far ...Netscape (in the preferences screen, which won't let me do any updating at all) keeps on telling me it's recognizing a completely different set of file extensions than what I want it to. I tried setting the same .mime.types file in /usr/local/lib/netscape, ~/.netscape, and also in my home dir. I tried naming it both .mime.types and without the leading "." .... nothing seems to work, so far. I had 3.0 and 4.0 Netscape set up to send .wav files to a wave file player on this system. Since upgrading to 4.5, it always says "plugin not found for application x/wav...whatever". I have gone through the same things you have with the mailcap and .mime.types files. I can't even figure out what the difference between a "helper" and a "plug-in" is from their docs. Other than that though, I like 4.5 much better.
