The ISO is still uploading, but the FTP directory is all there. The 4.1-RELEASE packages are already on on the ftp site, so this RC uses those packages. Also, this FTP directory now includes the natively built X bits, including support for the i810 graphics adapter. This should be the final release candiate, so please test it as much as you can. When installing the Zoo package, I get: acd0: READ_BIG ILLEGAL REQUEST asc=21 ascq=00 error=04 twice. It might be a medium error (I'm using a CDRW), but I figured I'd report it. 2.) After configuring the network interface, when you say "yes" to bring it up, the screen clears, but it does _not_ redraw the underlying screen (this problem has already been reported, and never fixed). -Brian To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-qa" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-qa Mon Jul 24 23:45:25 2000 Delivered-To: freebsd-qa@freebsd.org Received: from pike.osd.bsdi.com (pike.osd.bsdi.com [204.216.28.222]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D9E4C37BBCA for ; Mon, 24 Jul 2000 23:45:22 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from jhb@pike.osd.bsdi.com) Received: (from jhb@localhost) by pike.osd.bsdi.com (8.9.3/8.9.3) id XAA82017; Mon, 24 Jul 2000 23:44:05 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from jhb) From: John Baldwin Message-Id: <200007250644.XAA82017@pike.osd.bsdi.com> Subject: Re: RC 3 issues... I doubt this will get fixed for 4.1, but one of us can come back to it after the release is out. Is it just an aesthetic effect or does it stick you at a blank, blue screen and wait for input? > -Brian -- John Baldwin -- http://www.FreeBSD.org/~jhb/ PGP Key: http://www.cslab.vt.edu/~jobaldwi/pgpkey.asc "Power Users Use the Power to Serve!" - http://www.FreeBSD.org/ To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-qa" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-qa Wed Jul 26 11:19:22 2000 Delivered-To: freebsd-qa@freebsd.org Received: from fledge.watson.org (fledge.watson.org [204.156.12.50]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1841737B50F for ; Wed, 26 Jul 2000 11:19:20 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from robert@fledge.watson.org) Received: from fledge.watson.org (robert@fledge.pr.watson.org [192.0.2.3]) by fledge.watson.org (8.9.3/8.9.3) with SMTP id OAA79476; Wed, 26 Jul 2000 14:19:17 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from robert@fledge.watson.org) Date: Wed, 26 Jul 2000 14:19:16 -0400 (EDT) From: Robert Watson X-Sender: robert@fledge.watson.org To: John Baldwin Cc: qa@FreeBSD.org Subject: Re: RC 3 issues... I ran into this also on 5.0-CURRENT yesterday -- it leaves you with a blue screen and a strategically placed, ``[ ]'' somewhere on the screen. I haven't tracked it down enough to reproduce it. I expect its really a routing issue that won't let you at the DNS servers :\. I think its time to change ISP's again. Anyhow, the problem has to do with the screen system for sysinstall. Although I'm not familiar with it, it amounts to this: When a child entity (window, screen, etc.) terminates, the parent doesn't fully redraw. This had been fixed on a number of screens in the 4.x debug cycle. However, this one has been untouched as yet. I'd love to get in to it myself. Unfortunately, I'm less than a week and a half from adopting 3 children, I lost my office to two of the kids, construction of the new office is at least 6 weeks behind right now, and I have a 4.x device driver that needs finishing for Cyclades, and a vgetty call control program that needs the dynamic loader finished so people can start working on extensions (and no space to do the work in). Since Jordan set the 'hard date' on the release for 7/25, I was planning on letting it slide for this release (as its non-critical). However, I expect at this point that if I lift a finger to fix it, I'll get the -annouce mail that 4.1 has shipped about 30 seconds after I send the patches in :) -Brian > > (I tried to CC this to "Brian J.
