As it happens, I tried using /stand/sysinstall - you're right, it was much easier to use, and it did the job fine. By the way, do you know of any other ports that you have to install to use EMACS, as I keep getting a library dependancy error. It's my guess that Emacs relies on the instalation of another package, but I can't figure out which one.
