Look at ../picobsd/floppy.tree/etc/mfs.rc for an example. I also got bridge and net to work, but bridge is missing it's floppy.tree directory, so I copied the one from net and modified the mfc.rc file. Further exploration indicates (it's i586_CPU, btw) that DIAL's only over the 1600K MFS limit by 12K. 1612K DOES compile. This config will work for me, because I have a 32M flashdisk module to boot from and 32M of DRAM... acres and acres to fill... ;-) Still, though, the question remains: what's the best way to make it build ootb for 4.2-R for floppies? 1) increase the default MFS footprint? 2) find more fat to trim? Joe, let us know if you make further changes. I need to spend time learning how to use pico, as this is my first experience with it, but I'll be available for quick-turn testing every day except Thursday. Now that I've CVSup'd to 4.2-S, it won't take _quite_ so long to get up to par to test. :-) -- Donald Wilde "Linking Minds and Micros" ================= S i l v e r L y n x =================== 2218 Southern Blvd., Suite 12 v: 505-891-4175 f: 891-4185 Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87124 web: http://www.Silver-Lynx.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-small" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-small Mon Nov 20 4:36: 3 2000 Delivered-To: freebsd-small@freebsd.org Received: from genius.systems.pavilion.net (genesis.tao.org.uk [194.242.131.254]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B2A0037B479 for ; Mon, 20 Nov 2000 04:36:00 -0800 (PST) Received: by genius.systems.pavilion.net (Postfix, from userid 100) id A919B9B2D; Mon, 20 Nov 2000 12:39:41 +0000 (GMT) Date: Mon, 20 Nov 2000 12:39:41 +0000 From: Josef Karthauser To: Don Wilde Cc: freebsd-small@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: Call for testing of PicoBSD under RELENG_4. We've just tried getting FreeBSD to boot only using the serial port, however we have had mixed results. It does not seem to matter what boot.config options we used. We got the boot up stuff through the serial: all the dmesg stuff, and the keyboard worked because we could skip the 10 seconds before booting the kernel. However as soon as that process finished, to the point that we expected to see "login:", we got nothing through the serial any more, and it was shown on the vga. Do we have to change the getty parameters? We also tried forcing the kernel to boot only through the serial port, using the serial flags: device sio0 at isa? port IO_COM1 flags 0x20 irq 4 Same results Thanks, m2m Technology To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-small" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-small Mon Nov 20 17:33:45 2000 Delivered-To: freebsd-small@freebsd.org Received: from rover.village.org (rover.village.org [204.144.255.66]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 227CE37B4C5 for ; Mon, 20 Nov 2000 17:33:42 -0800 (PST) Received: from harmony.village.org (harmony.village.org [10.0.0.6]) by rover.village.org (8.11.0/8.11.0) with ESMTP id eAL1WrQ28133; Mon, 20 Nov 2000 18:32:53 -0700 (MST) (envelope-from imp@harmony.village.org) Received: from harmony.village.org (localhost.village.org [127.0.0.1]) by harmony.village.org (8.9.3/8.8.3) with ESMTP id SAA29765; Mon, 20 Nov 2000 18:32:52 -0700 (MST) Message-Id: <200011210132.SAA29765@harmony.village.org> To: "Roger Wilco" Subject: Re: Serial console only - no keyboard or vga Cc: freebsd-small@FreeBSD.ORG, general@vicfug.au.freebsd.org In-reply-to: Your message of "Tue, 21 Nov 2000 12:22:52 +1100."
