I'll then try and start working on compiling the FreeBSD userland from the 4.0-RELEASE branch. Between now and that as-yet-undetermined date, I'll probably go pouring over the Alpha-port archives. Anyone have any ideas on a good way to approach this? If not I'll just jump off this bridge when I get there... I would appreciate lots of advice (and encouragement) on this part though... I have started working on the 2nd stage loader already. I will start by using the NetBSD sparc gcc untill the freebsd one is ready... (Lydon??? :-) ) I am assuming that it doesn't matter which compiler builds the 2nd stage loader image. Let me know if that is not a valid assumption. Let me know if that is not a valid assumption. Funny thing, that. I keep trying with the cross-cc, but still no luck. I'm determined to get it working, but I ask once again, is it *really* necessary? I am also of the assumption that the Net- compiler on a SPARC is sufficient for our needs, but I anxiously await someone's explanation of why it won't work. <:) Lyndon To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-sparc" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-sparc Wed Mar 15 9: 9:49 2000 Delivered-To: freebsd-sparc@freebsd.org Received: from obie.softweyr.com (obie.softweyr.com [204.68.178.33]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1F64037BA1E for ; Wed, 15 Mar 2000 09:09:29 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from wes@softweyr.com) Received: from softweyr.com (wes@homer.softweyr.com [204.68.178.39]) by obie.softweyr.com (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id KAA25043; Wed, 15 Mar 2000 10:08:09 -0700 (MST) (envelope-from wes@softweyr.com) Message-ID: <38CFC3A2.A70F41CC@softweyr.com> Date: Wed, 15 Mar 2000 10:08:50 -0700 From: Wes Peters Organization: Softweyr LLC X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.7 [en] (X11; U; FreeBSD 3.3-RELEASE i386) X-Accept-Language: en MIME-Version: 1.0 To: Lyndon Griffin Cc: freebsd-sparc@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: 5.0-CURRENT References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-freebsd-sparc@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Lyndon Griffin wrote: > > On Tue, 14 Mar 2000, Mark Tempel wrote: > > > > I will start by using the NetBSD sparc gcc untill the freebsd one is ready... > > (Lydon??? :-) ) > > I am assuming that it doesn't matter which compiler builds the 2nd stage loader > > image. If they have a gcc-2.95 or higher pkg, install that and use it. -- "Where am I, and what am I doing in this handbasket?"
