there are two things:
+ a relative pathname for tinyware in /usr/src/release/picobsd/net/crunch.conf
which should be replaced with an absolute one (committed earlier today).
+ remove mfs.mtree from /usr/src/release/picobsd/net
(will commit this later)

whoops... add
options MD_ROOT_SIZE=2200 # same as def_sz
in /usr/src/release/picobsd/net/PICOBSD
(right after the #PicoBSD line...)

Hi,
I'm looking into adding support for conditional statements to the PICOBSD shell off of 4.3 release. Is anyone looking or has looked into this kind of thing already?
It's probably best to have PICOBSD come up with the standard csh instead of the restricted functionality shell that it currently has.
I would greatly appreciate any more information, pointers.
Thanks,
-Srinivas

Hi All,
If you receive mail with subject 'Homepage' from me (Parag Dabke -
paragd@bsil.com) then please delete it. It has attachment named
homepage.HTML.vbs. It is a virus.
I received this virus from list 'questions'.
Is it possible to have virus check for the mailing lists.
Sorry for the trouble.

Ok, I'm stumped.
Is there any way for the picobsd build scripts
to indicate what's taking up space in the disk image?
I think I'm pushing it trying to get vi on there
(Yes, I dislike ee that much ) but that's all I
really need. I've removed as much other stuff as I can
(only really have MSDOS support and INET, and the second was because the
kernel wouldn't build without it.)
Also, this is slightly off-topic, but is there a simple way to
set specific CFLAGS for PICOBSD? A k6-optimized kernel probably
isn't going to get too far on a 386SX...

one hint would be to do a "size *.lo" in the directory
where objects are built (that is before compression).

There's got to be a better way to do this.
This figure is settable in the picobsd interactive menu. It's a shame
that it doesn't get copied into the kernel config file somehow.
It's a shame that we can't specify MD_ROOT_SIZE as a build time kernel
option yet.

the problem is that if you modify the kernel config file,
it becomes trickier to handle the dependencies.
The interactive menu was designed when the image was not part
of the kernel. Now that it is (and is the only way i could
think to get rid of the 80+KB of the loader), you have
to rebuild a kernel, unless there is some smart tool
to add a section with the MD image to a ELF file and let the code in
the kernel peek into that section...
cheers

Of course when we were running /boot/loader it wasn't a problem.
Hmm.
What's write_mfs_in_kernel.c?

it copies the mfs image into a reserved area of the kernel,
whose beginning is identified using some special string.
I think the same thing could be done in perl without
too many problems, though I am not a perl coder...
The reason i mention perl is that i would like to write
some (perl or whatever) code in the picobsd script to patch
the /boot2 in the image so that it does not try to load
/boot/loader but goes to /kernel right away.
cheers
