If missed the beginning of this question, but if you're having trouble getting the ethernet to work, and you think that you're bridging, the answer is to use 'host' mode in the vmware configuration, not 'bridge'. The vmnet module takes care of the bridging behind the scenes. I installed vmware on a 4.5 box a few days ago, and it worked just find with this configuration. Yeah, I've gotten even farther, bubba. ;) I finally fixed the bug that was busting my balls right now. It was a typo in the Java bytecode tables from when I was trying to track down a GCC/C++ bug. Moving to GCC 3.0.4, fixed the problem and reverting the table code back to the original solved that problem. ;) Man, you've got to look at that and laugh. /me giggles. Now I've got to track down more pthreads issues. ;-) bill To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-emulation" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-emulation Tue May 28 14:55: 5 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org Received: from kumr.lns.com (kumr.lns.com [63.198.122.138]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 914E037B404 for ; Tue, 28 May 2002 14:54:40 -0700 (PDT) Received: (from pozar@localhost) by kumr.lns.com (8.11.6/8.9.3) id g4SLseD35210 for freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org; Tue, 28 May 2002 14:54:40 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from pozar) Date: Tue, 28 May 2002 14:54:40 -0700 From: Tim Pozar To: freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org Subject: VMware3 Message-ID: <20020528145440.A34625@lns.com> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.2.5i Sender: owner-freebsd-emulation@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Anyone working on the port for VMware 3? I am really motivated to having VMware3 > going on my machine. Yes, take a look at the vmware3 install script that they ship and work out what it writes in the configuration file. Running the vmware3 binary causes it to start, but it complains that the setup script wasn't run.
