The server has 2 66mhz 64 bit pci slots. Our main IT person recently went to a tech. show and stopped and talked to the people at the 3com display. They convinced him that the 3com 3c996b-t would be the best card to match our needs. Since he told me, I've been searching to see what kind of support freebsd 4.5 stable has for this. All I could find was that the bge driver supports the 3com 3c996-t (note the missing 'b') and not much else. So, can anyone tell me if the 3c996b-t from 3com works with the bge driver, and with freebsd in general? If not, does anyone have any card recommendations? Thanks. ____________ Kendall Gifford http://kendall.jedis.com kendall@jedis.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-hardware" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-hardware Wed May 15 18:32: 3 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Received: from odin.ac.hmc.edu (Odin.AC.HMC.Edu [134.173.32.75]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 203B437B406 for ; Wed, 15 May 2002 18:31:59 -0700 (PDT) Received: (from root@localhost) by odin.ac.hmc.edu (8.11.0/8.11.0) id g4G1Vwk17509; Wed, 15 May 2002 18:31:58 -0700 Received: (from brdavis@localhost) by odin.ac.hmc.edu (8.11.0/8.11.0) id g4G1VuG17497; Wed, 15 May 2002 18:31:56 -0700 Date: Wed, 15 May 2002 18:31:56 -0700 From: Brooks Davis To: Kendall Gifford Cc: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Subject: Re: 3Com 3c996b-t support Message-ID: <20020515183156.D19892@Odin.AC.HMC.Edu> References: <000801c1fc63$466f84c0$2501a8c0@fmepro.com> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-md5; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="RYJh/3oyKhIjGcML" Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.2.5.1i In-Reply-To: <000801c1fc63$466f84c0$2501a8c0@fmepro.com>; from kendall@jedis.com on Wed, May 15, 2002 at 04:53:04PM -0600 X-Virus-Scanned: by AMaViS perl-11 Sender: owner-freebsd-hardware@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.org --RYJh/3oyKhIjGcML Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable On Wed, May 15, 2002 at 04:53:04PM -0600, Kendall Gifford wrote: > Hello, we have a Dell Poweredge 1550 that needs a new NIC (the built in > Intel NIC's have issues, see mail thread: > http://docs.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=3D166294+0+archive/2002/freeb > sd-stable/20020512.freebsd-stable). No, FreeBSD doesn't support USB 2.0 yet. Hopefully 5.0 will support it when released, but 5.0-current doesn't support it yet. -- John Baldwin <>< http://www.FreeBSD.org/~jhb/ "Power Users Use the Power to Serve!" - http://www.FreeBSD.org/ To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-hardware" in the body of the message
