Hey Jason, It's inconsistent because it is not a normal release. There are just two images rather than 5. I think adding two extra text files and a directory would be unnecessary for just TWO files. Sheesh, that makes 3 releases in a row that you've followed up with minor nit-picks about release layout or announcements. We're not always going to think exactly alike, so please lets focus on more important issues. ;) - Murray To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-hubs" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-hubs Sun Apr 7 20:21:29 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Received: from piglet.dstc.edu.au (piglet.dstc.edu.au [130.102.176.1]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E75CA37B416; Sun, 7 Apr 2002 20:21:25 -0700 (PDT) Received: from azure.dstc.edu.au (azure.dstc.edu.au [130.102.176.27]) by piglet.dstc.edu.au (8.11.3/8.11.3) with ESMTP id g383KZP00803; Mon, 8 Apr 2002 13:20:35 +1000 (EST) Date: Mon, 8 Apr 2002 13:21:22 +1000 (EST) From: jason andrade To: Murray Stokely Cc: hubs@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: How many sites have all of the i386 DP1 bits? You complained that the 4.4-RELEASE announcement went out before even ftp.freebsd.org had all of the bits. I have actively ensured that did not happen for 4.5 or 5.0-DP1. Part of the communication problem is that you continue to show such cynicism (even about such incredibly minor details), without even acknowledging the fact that to date we have addressed each one of your concerns. You can continue to send complaints and suggestions directly to me or the re@FreeBSD.org address, but your voice will be heard much better if you work on your communication style. As it stands now, I have no idea what your complaints are, because all I hear from you are vague snide remarks. On those rare occasions when you've mentioned something specific, we have addressed it. As it i will take this onboard and attempt not to be such a sourpuss in future :-) (though i still want to get some stuff off my chest about the 5.0 DP release here) > stands now, I have no idea what your complaints are, because all I > hear from you are vague snide remarks. On those rare occasions when > you've mentioned something specific, we have addressed it. put it down to some years of frustation in getting anything done in this forum. apologies if it seems like all i do is complain, but yes, i do dislike what i see as arbitary changes because it causes me extra work. so for the 5.0 example, yes, it's "only" 2 images. which is one more than any release before 4.4 and three less than 4.5. so thats the system? if a release "that is not a full release" and has 1 or more iso images but less than 5, it will get dropped into the main ISO tree instead of its own tree ? c'mon. so specifically for the next DP release can we get a 5.0 directory and put iso images into it like 4.5 and 4.4 before it. regards, -jason To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-hubs" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-hubs Sun Apr 7 21: 2:38 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Received: from piglet.dstc.edu.au (piglet.dstc.edu.au [130.102.176.1]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D180937B416; Sun, 7 Apr 2002 21:02:35 -0700 (PDT) Received: from azure.dstc.edu.au (azure.dstc.edu.au [130.102.176.27]) by piglet.dstc.edu.au (8.11.3/8.11.3) with ESMTP id g3841kP03655; Mon, 8 Apr 2002 14:01:46 +1000 (EST) Date: Mon, 8 Apr 2002 14:02:33 +1000 (EST) From: jason andrade To: Murray Stokely Cc: hubs@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: How many sites have all of the i386 DP1 bits? This is actually a bug in some Windows FTP clients; I think I have seen it in recent versions of CuteFTP, for instance. The client seems to think that a symlink always has a directory as a target, so it shows it as a directory (with a folder mini-icon) and tries to CWD into it on double-clicking... The real workaround is to use an earlier version of CuteFTP, or another FTP client, until the folks at GlobalSCAPE (or the authors of whatever FTP client Gabriel is using) get this sorted out.. And by the way, reading both the Handbook chapter on FreeBSD mirrors and the "Mirroring FreeBSD" article mentioned above will probably be *very* useful to you as a new mirror admin :) G'luck, Peter --=20 Peter Pentchev roam@ringlet.net roam@FreeBSD.org PGP key: http://people.FreeBSD.org/~roam/roam.key.asc Key fingerprint FDBA FD79 C26F 3C51 C95E DF9E ED18 B68D 1619 4553 Nostalgia ain't what it used to be. --O3RTKUHj+75w1tg5 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (FreeBSD) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iEYEARECAAYFAjyxwi8ACgkQ7Ri2jRYZRVMWiACeMH3GGVmqMrrOw9TGIYSezIl/ WqcAoMZUcDTWKkwVVTWXp45reeGAX1iI =tO6F -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --O3RTKUHj+75w1tg5-- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-hubs" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-hubs Tue Apr 9 0:10:33 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Received: from Www.HCRC.edu.tw (www.HCRC.edu.tw [163.28.64.11]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 672F937B416 for ; Tue, 9 Apr 2002 00:10:06 -0700 (PDT) Received: from Www.HCRC.edu.tw (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by Www.HCRC.edu.tw (8.12.2/8.12.2) with ESMTP id g397A0ol035256 for ; Tue, 9 Apr 2002 15:10:00 +0800 (CST) Received: (from root@localhost) by Www.HCRC.edu.tw (8.12.2/8.12.2/Submit) id g397A0iq035254 for hubs@FreeBSD.ORG.procmail; Tue, 9 Apr 2002 15:10:00 +0800 (CST) Received: from Terry.Dorm11.NCTU.edu.tw (Terry.Dorm11.NCTU.edu.tw [140.113.192.99]) by Www.HCRC.edu.tw (8.12.2/8.12.2) with ESMTP id g3979wol035248; Tue, 9 Apr 2002 15:10:00 +0800 (CST) Received: from Terry.Dorm11.NCTU.edu.tw (ijliao@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by Terry.Dorm11.NCTU.edu.tw (8.12.2/8.12.2) with ESMTP id g397AC0h089629; Tue, 9 Apr 2002 15:10:12 +0800 (CST) (envelope-from ijliao@Terry.Dorm11.NCTU.edu.tw) Received: (from ijliao@localhost) by Terry.Dorm11.NCTU.edu.tw (8.12.2/8.12.2/Submit) id g397ACMG089628; Tue, 9 Apr 2002 15:10:12 +0800 (CST) Date: Tue, 9 Apr 2002 15:10:12 +0800 From: Ying-Chieh Liao To: Murray Stokely Cc: hubs@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: How many sites have all of the i386 DP1 bits?
