Last month I asked for a repocopy of some files that amounted to about 150MB of extra data in the repository. These files caused an uproar with some people so I had Joe K trim them down to less than 150KB. However, you probably transferred all of these before this corrective measure was taken. This amount of data probably accounted for a large portion of your additional international traffic. I apologize to you and everyone else. I don't think that that 150MB would account for 2.98GB of traffic. That would amount to only 150MB of international traffic as it was downloaded. The cvsup server in question accepts only domestic clients (this restriction is accomplished via a filter which occurs upstream). Uhm.. well.. last time I checked, cvsup servers do have to download _something_ from a master server.. 2.98GB doesn't sound like a lot of transfer to me for a month for a cvsup server. FreeBSD easily applies thousands of patches a month, and cvs imports lots of stuff. RC1 is still on ftp-master so that it doesn't immediately disappear from all of the ftp sites in case some poor sap is in the middle of downloading it over a modem or something. We will delete it from ftp-master in a week. If you are short on space, you can delete the RC1 ISO and FTP install directory from your site. The packages directory is the same for RC2, so definitely don't delete that. An Alpha build is currently transferring and should be available soon as well. Unless any major issues crop up, we'll wait the customary week before releasing another candidate. As usual, please send me a quick note when your site has the bits and I'll send out the announcement.
