It also seemed to cause no other problems. I'm guessing this has something to do with the PC Card controller mode, but don't know that for a fact. ("options PNPBIOS" in the kernel config is unnecessary.) There's more testing to do, but this may help others with Tecra machines or Toshibas in general. -Warren Block * Rapid City, South Dakota USA To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-mobile" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-mobile Sun Oct 6 11:17: 1 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 22D8937B401 for ; Sun, 6 Oct 2002 11:16:49 -0700 (PDT) Received: from ncsmtp03.ogw.rr.com (ncsmtp03.ogw.rr.com [24.93.67.84]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2F06143E81 for ; Sun, 6 Oct 2002 11:16:48 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from eric@nc.rr.com) Received: from mail6.nc.rr.com (fe6 [24.93.67.53]) by ncsmtp03.ogw.rr.com (8.12.5/8.12.2) with ESMTP id g96IGbiZ006504; Sun, 6 Oct 2002 14:16:37 -0400 (EDT) Received: from cumulus.poladog.org ([24.162.235.209]) by mail6.nc.rr.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(5.5.1877.757.75); Sun, 6 Oct 2002 14:16:47 -0400 Received: by cumulus.poladog.org (Postfix, from userid 2657) id 58264F8292; Sun, 6 Oct 2002 14:09:56 -0400 (EDT) Date: Sun, 6 Oct 2002 14:09:56 -0400 From: Eric Gebhart To: FreeBSD mobile list Subject: 512M compact flash. I have been running FreeBSD on my Inspiron 8000 laptop for a about a year now. I've successfully created new entries in my pccard.conf for other devices in the past. But I have this new Viking 512M card that just won't work. It works fine on my wife's Linux laptop. But Linux does things in such twisted and obfiscated ways I couldn't tell anything from it's configs. The card Id's as a TOSHIBA THNCF512MMA. I've tried everything I can think of. I even tried 'pccardc enabler' but that was getting into things that I didn't understand or couldn't figure out from 'pccardc dumpcis' I just rebooted to get a clean start after all my experimentation. I left the card in on reboot. There was no trace of it being found in dmesg or in messages. Not other than card0 inserted... I then removed it and reinserted it.
