First, the code comes from Apple and is covered by the Apple Public Source License, which is rather similar to the GNU one: One must provide the source of any related work for free. It also reserves Apple's right to use any improvements in their commercial products. Does that impose any problems or complications on putting the HFS code into the FreeBSD source tree? Second, the upper layer of the original Apple's code (VFS and vnode operations etc) looks pretty outdated and sometimes poorly written. Which way looks more reasonable, to rewrite it with respect to the modern state of affairs in FreeBSD or to let Apple improve the code over time? -- Yar To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-ppc" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-ppc Sat Apr 20 11: 8:35 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org Received: from ponzi.oit.umass.edu (ponzi.oit.umass.edu [128.119.166.18]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CDE2A37B41A for ; Sat, 20 Apr 2002 11:08:31 -0700 (PDT) Received: from CONVERSION-DAEMON by ponzi.oit.umass.edu (PMDF V5.2-32 #38130) id <0GUV00L01P248E@ponzi.oit.umass.edu> for freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org; Sat, 20 Apr 2002 14:08:29 -0400 (EDT) Received: from [128.119.18.101] (emrs-101.res.umass.edu [128.119.18.101]) by ponzi.oit.umass.edu (PMDF V5.2-32 #38130) with ESMTP id <0GUV00ILZP24I4@ponzi.oit.umass.edu> for freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org; Sat, 20 Apr 2002 14:08:28 -0400 (EDT) Date: Sat, 20 Apr 2002 14:08:28 -0400 From: Gabriel Shore Subject: Re: FreeBSD/ppc Project To: freebsd-ppc@FreeBSD.org Message-id: MIME-version: 1.0 Content-type: multipart/alternative; boundary="Boundary_(ID_ITkLbkgs8RONI3iwWqfMHQ)" User-Agent: Microsoft-Entourage/10.0.0.1331 Sender: owner-freebsd-ppc@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG > This message is in MIME format.
