In theory, you should be able to run it in linux-compatibility mode on FreeBSD with a recent JDK. We have played with it on a RedHat 7.3 box, and looked into putting into production on BSD via linux emulation but gave up after a day or so of fooling around with it. - mike On 1/5/03 8:32 AM, "Will Williams" wrote: > Hi, > > I am sending this to Java and Net lists in hopes of someone having some info > on OpenNMS. It mostly works except when the applet tries to connect back to the source host, probably via SSL. In that case the connection fails and in some cases crashes the browser. Specifically I'm trying to use two applets. The first is the admin console for an IBM Enterprise Storage Server (SHARK) and the second is the admin applets for an IBM 2106-S16 fibre channel switch (rebadged brocade Silkworm 3800). When trying the shark the applet gives a "communication problem" message. When trying the brocade applet it crashes the browser. Can anyone help me with the next steps in getting this resolved? It's the last thing I need before I can chuck netscape 4.76. Thanks! Carl. Are you trying to perform some sort of proxy connection? Aside from SSL, do you have a corporate gateway in the way? The Java plugin *does not* do proxy connections. /Joe To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-java" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-java Tue Jan 7 19:35:12 2003 Delivered-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9657C37B405; Tue, 7 Jan 2003 19:35:10 -0800 (PST) Received: from figg.securenet.com.au (ns2.isecure.com.au [202.125.4.72]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3A5E143ED8; Tue, 7 Jan 2003 19:35:05 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from carl@xena.IPAustralia.gov.au) Received: from iron.securenet.com.au (iron.securenet.com.au [202.125.4.94]) by figg.securenet.com.au (8.12.5/8.12.5/Debian-1) with ESMTP id h083YnOq021963; Wed, 8 Jan 2003 14:34:49 +1100 Received: (from uucp@localhost) by iron.securenet.com.au (8.12.6/8.12.6) id h083YnsG017602; Wed, 8 Jan 2003 14:34:49 +1100 (EST) X-Authentication-Warning: iron.securenet.com.au: uucp set sender to using -f Received: from nodnsquery(10.11.3.10) by iron.securenet.com.au via csmap (V6.0) id srcAAAqWaiyI; Wed, 8 Jan 03 14:34:49 +1100 Received: from vmail.aipo.gov.au (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by gibbons.securenet.com.au (8.12.3/8.12.3/Debian -4) with ESMTP id h083YmID010343; Wed, 8 Jan 2003 14:34:48 +1100 Received: from xena.aipo.gov.au (xena.aipo.gov.au [10.0.100.52]) by vmail.aipo.gov.au (8.11.6/8.11.6) with ESMTP id h083Ymv32322; Wed, 8 Jan 2003 14:34:48 +1100 (EST) (envelope-from carl@xena.IPAustralia.gov.au) Received: from newton.aipo.gov.au (newton.aipo.gov.au [10.0.100.18]) by xena.aipo.gov.au (8.11.1/8.11.2) with ESMTP id h083YmW48763; Wed, 8 Jan 2003 14:34:48 +1100 (EST) (envelope-from carl@xena.ipaustralia.gov.au) Received: from newton.aipo.gov.au (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by newton.aipo.gov.au (8.12.6/8.12.6) with ESMTP id h083Yl1R087576; Wed, 8 Jan 2003 14:34:47 +1100 (EST) (envelope-from carl@xena.ipaustralia.gov.au) Received: (from carl@localhost) by newton.aipo.gov.au (8.12.6/8.12.6/Submit) id h083YkwK087575; Wed, 8 Jan 2003 14:34:46 +1100 (EST) X-Authentication-Warning: newton.aipo.gov.au: carl set sender to carl@xena.ipaustralia.gov.au using -f Subject: Re: Problems with the Mozilla plugin and remote connections From: Carl Makin To: Joe Kelsey Cc: freebsd-stable@freebsd.org, freebsd-java@freebsd.org In-Reply-To: <1041984923.422.61.camel@zircon> References: <1041982876.79645.49.camel@newton.aipo.gov.au> <1041984923.422.61.camel@zircon> Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Organization: Message-Id: <1041996885.79645.55.camel@newton.aipo.gov.au> Mime-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Ximian Evolution 1.2.0 Date: 08 Jan 2003 14:34:46 +1100 Sender: owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Hi Joe, On Wed, 2003-01-08 at 11:15, Joe Kelsey wrote: > > I've got jdk-1.3.1p7_2 installed and running as a plugin in Mozilla > > 1.1. The shark connection starts to work, but when the applet tries its first connection back to the shark it errors out with a "communications error". That applet runs under Netscape 4.76 in the 1.1.8 JVM. The Brocades need a minimum of the 1.2.2 JVM and they crash the browser immediately. Carl. The problem exhibits its self when you put the JkWorkersFile statement inside of an Apache virtual host in httpd.conf. Since I am running a number of virtual Apache servers, I had hoped to have a different workers.properties file for each virtual server, but I guess not. The resolution is to move all the mod_jk definition statements (under ) away from any statements. Changing the JkWorkersFile directive to a non-existent file results in a different error message. The real problem seems to be where map_read_properties is called in mod_jk.c. The pointer to the worker file here seems to be NULL. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Native threading is broken and was just a stepping stone for HotSpot. My intent was to get HotSpot going with native threading in place of -classic native threading. 1.4 J2SE will not have classic at all, so the loss of -native isn't going to be important so my suggestion is to migrate to HotSpot. We need to get a new patch out with some of the CVS changes and then automate the rest of the releases so that we collectively can have a better developer to end user interaction, so that patches will be out to the public and tested more immediately, more immediate feedback, etc... bill To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-java" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-java Fri Jan 10 22:38: 4 2003 Delivered-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8839D37B401 for ; Fri, 10 Jan 2003 22:37:55 -0800 (PST) Received: from gddsn.org.cn (mail.gddsn.org.cn [210.21.6.33]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 414F043F18 for ; Fri, 10 Jan 2003 22:37:54 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from hwh@gddsn.org.cn) Received: from gddsn.org.cn (gw [210.21.6.34]) by gddsn.org.cn (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1E86D38CBCE for ; Sat, 11 Jan 2003 09:51:11 +0800 (CST) Message-ID: <3E1F788F.60505@gddsn.org.cn> Date: Sat, 11 Jan 2003 09:51:11 +0800 From: Huang wen hui User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; FreeBSD i386; zh-CN; rv:1.1) Gecko/20021206 X-Accept-Language: zh-cn,zh MIME-Version: 1.0 To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Subject: [Fwd: Math.exp(-1.0/(a*a)) return NaN when using hotspot vm?] Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="------------080809070003060904080808" Sender: owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.org This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------080809070003060904080808 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit --------------080809070003060904080808 Content-Type: message/rfc822; name="Math.exp(-1.0/(a*a)) return NaN when using hotspot vm?" I try it under CURRENT with jdk1.3.1 and jdk1.4.0. in three freebsd box and got same result.
