This is for a little digital video recorder I'm putting together using the Asus Pundit SFF and the freevo port Steve O'Hara is preparing. With the version of ffmpeg currently in the ports the input source is fixed at compile time, so as long as you want the one you compiled it for (WITH_BROOKTREE_INPUT=x) all will be well automatically. If you also want to set the tuner you will need something like bsdbktr_tvtune, or mplayer can be set to play one frame to /dev/null and set it all up as a side effect :) The are two newer versions of ffmpeg port skeletons on ftp.sohara.org both of which respond to environment variables for input, format and frequency, the -cvs one also has a command line option for format. -- C:>WIN | Directable Mirrors The computer obeys and wins. |A Better Way To Focus The Sun You lose and Bill collects. | licenses available - see: | http://www.sohara.org/ From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Aug 19 12:39:26 2003 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8F30416A4BF for ; Tue, 19 Aug 2003 12:39:26 -0700 (PDT) Received: from lennier.cc.vt.edu (lennier.cc.vt.edu [198.82.162.213]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C65EF43F93 for ; Tue, 19 Aug 2003 12:39:25 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from daniel.fisher@vt.edu) Received: from vivi.cc.vt.edu (IDENT:mirapoint@evil-vivi [10.1.1.12]) by lennier.cc.vt.edu (8.12.8/8.12.8) with ESMTP id h7JJdPv2413492 for ; Tue, 19 Aug 2003 15:39:25 -0400 (EDT) Received: from psych.iad.vt.edu (psych.iad.vt.edu [128.173.13.108]) by vivi.cc.vt.edu (Mirapoint Messaging Server MOS 3.3.2-CR) with SMTP id BNJ94759; Tue, 19 Aug 2003 15:39:23 -0400 (EDT) Date: Tue, 19 Aug 2003 15:39:22 -0400 From: Daniel Fisher To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Message-Id: <20030819153922.3af38ca8.daniel.fisher@vt.edu> Organization: Virginia Tech X-Mailer: Sylpheed version 0.9.3claws (GTK+ 1.2.10; i386-portbld-freebsd5.1) Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Subject: adi 198x audio X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 19 Aug 2003 19:39:27 -0000 Does the pcm device support the ADI 198x integrated audio chipset? The ADI198x refers to a set of AC97 codecs. AC97 is a standard. Some AC97 codecs have features above and beyond what the standard specifies and may need initialization tweaks, but the vast conform to the standard closely and work as is. The Analog Devices ad1980 has some patches pending in the source tree. If you buy a board with one of these, then applying or even determining a patch might be in order, but it shouldn't be too much work. - Orion From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Aug 19 13:22:00 2003 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id AFA7716A4BF for ; Tue, 19 Aug 2003 13:22:00 -0700 (PDT) Received: from smtp4.wanadoo.nl (smtp4.wanadoo.nl [194.134.35.175]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 13A1943F85 for ; Tue, 19 Aug 2003 13:22:00 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from steve@sohara.org) Received: from ams-gw.sohara.org (p0731.nas3-asd6.dial.wanadoo.nl [62.234.218.223]) by smtp4.wanadoo.nl (Postfix) with SMTP id D728440C6D; Tue, 19 Aug 2003 22:21:56 +0200 (CEST) Date: Tue, 19 Aug 2003 22:21:57 +0200 From: Steve O'Hara-Smith To: Lars Eggert Message-Id: <20030819222157.301b9845.steve@sohara.org> In-Reply-To: <3F424102.3040603@isi.edu> References: <3F423DFE.2030608@isi.edu> <20030819081645.B72075@xorpc.icir.org> <3F424102.3040603@isi.edu> X-Mailer: Sylpheed version 0.9.4 (GTK+ 1.2.10; i386-portbld-freebsd4.8) X-Face: %]+HVL}K`P8>+8ZcY-WGHP6j@&mxMo9JH6_WdgIgUGH)JX/usO0%jy7T~IVgqjumD^OBqX,Kv^-GM6mlw(fI^$"QRKyZ$?xx/ Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit cc: rizzo@icir.org cc: multimedia@freebsd.org Subject: Re: bktr card that does PAL+NTSC? A reasonably recent multimedia API would be Sun's Java Media Framework - available at http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/guide/JMFTOC.html From a high design perspective, for the higher level parts of a multimedia API, IMHO its pretty good. If I use the binary nvidia driver, and I have a multihead 4-STABLE machine, mixing nvidia cards and other DRI-supported video cards, will the non-nvidia cards still work for DRI? If you reply to the list on this, please cc: my mail address, too.
