I have advertised a lun from the san and it shows up in the hba's bios ok. On boot the freebsd isp driver picks up the card ok and pauses for a few seconds as if polling the luns, but it doesnt pick up anything. Have tried booting verbose and no errors or anything about luns shows up. Have also tried the debug loader options for the isp driver but that just shows the same output as boot -v. Have also tried forcing the the hba and san speed to 1G to no avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am using FreeBSD 4.8 on an Intel SE7501WV2 motherboard. Specifically, I would like to know how to recreate this bug. It happened to me twice over a week's time, and I am trying to find a solution - but I can't recreate it, no matter how hard I work the disks. Any suggestions are very welcome. I heard the rumor about turning off tagged queueing - doesn't that slow things down? Anyway, I can't put this machine back into service until I verify that it's really working. I have a 3Ware 6410 running current firmware with two 30GB WD drives (model number WD300BB-00CCB0) in a RAID 1 config (mirroring). Twice in the past few months, 3dm informed me that a drive was dropped from the mirror. The message logged was "twe0: AEN: . If I remove the problem drive, add it, then rebuild, it runs fine for a month or so (which includes build/install world, etc.). During the time of the failure, there's not much happening (no daily runs, no backups, etc.). The box is on a UPS, and I've confirmed there's been no activity in the vicinity of the rack when this happens (ie: no one was moving equipment around or causing any other physical shock). Is there any way to get more information about what's happening to this drive? It's my understanding that the firmware on the card and the twe driver both support "SMART" for monitoring the drive for possible failures, but there have been no log messages regarding "SMART", just the above "drive error" message. If anyone can provide some additional troubleshooting help, that would be much appreciated.
