hi!
i was wondering what you think about the bsd and linux benchmark by 'fefe', whether i should do a patch to add this one to our press articles or not.
for all who did not read the article[1] by felix von leitner. he does a detailed benchmarking for a performance network programming speech. he benchmarks linux 2.4, linux 2.6, freebsd 5.1-current, openbsd and netbsd.
although he is a well respected person, he is a big linux advocat and does not seem to be a bsd-friend, so it does not suprise that in his conclusion he proposes to use linux for high performance networking, while freebsd is 2nd. he does not give good comments on openbsd and netbsd.
what do you think of this article, shall we link this one or not - or in other words is it really objective or not?

No, the cause is that index.xsl still uses security/advisories.xml.
The attached patch should fix the build.
BTW, I think I will move advisories.xml to www/share, a language
independent place. Sorry for confusing, but please check carefully
if www/ tree can be built.

The end result is the same, so the below is fine with me.

Would it not also be useful/prudent to have the path to it in an
xsl:variable? The diff to index.xsl is much larger than it deserves to be.

Yes, I agree with this. I am planning to add such a variable definition
as the location is moved. Thank you for the suggestion!

Hello
When I worked at PR www/54713 I noticed that the links listed under "Web
Resources" on /support.html are rather inconsistent. Some are
translations of www.FreeBSD.org, some are just links to www.FreeBSD.org
mirrors, and some are FreeBSD sites in "local languages".
I have tried to clean this up a bit, and just have link to the
translated versions on the front page using the two letter language
names. AFAIR this was also suggested some time ago.
What does people say to the attached patch? I know it's not a complete
solution, but I think it's much better than the current state.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean. The mirror dropdown works as
expected on Mozilla 1.5 on MacOS X. I don't expect the behavior to be
different for other platforms.
Perhaps you're having font problems that are keeping the dropdown from
rendering properly?

hi!
as i stated before, i am doing a rework/update of the publications page.
while i am working on the books, i am wondering, are we allowed to take
the pictures of the books' covers from the publishers page, or do i have
to ask them for permission.
does anyone know?
greets, josef

I think it'd be a good idea to ask, unless they have a copyright policy
posted that allows it. They might want a link to the book's website or
something posted alongside.

All the ones that I have added have been supplied either by the author
or the publisher, after dropping them a mail asking for it.

Hello Pawel!
1) no info about the group (404)
2) this free e-mail provider can't even forward messages, isn't it
the "one man group"?
3) you should use send-pr

Hello again,
Well...answers...
404 are not present since now :-) Full page will be able from Monday.
This is temporary e-mail (not free, this is commercial option of wp.pl),
I think, that we'll register some .org domain soon. Group isn't one man
group. Here are people from Mragowo, Olsztyn, Warsaw etc.etc.
Best regards from Mragowo/Poland :-) ,
Pawel
