Both ports 'XFree86-Server' & XFree86-Server-Snap' lock up on all ALPHA archetectures. I presume with my novice C experience that it is a PCI probing conflict. There has been a possible fix posted to freebsd-alpha@freebsd.org see the archive on the list. For referance; I have tried 4.8, 4.9, 5.0, 5.1, and 5.2RC2. I have used a TI based Permedia2 and a S3 Trio64/DX in several PCI slots. I have an AS1200, with 2 533au chips and 512megs total ram. I have a 2048kps cable connection if you need access to my system. -cheers, S.C. Gehl
