There's also an equivalent in the kernel: /usr/src/sys/alpha/alpha/divrem.m4. The kernel case might be a security issue if you could find a syscall that would do arbitrary (assuming not by zero!) division of 64-bit values. Currently I am running RELENG_5 on an alphaserver 800 5/500 without any problems. I will be rolling it out on a PWS 4/66 as well. If any one has any patches that they need testing, don't hesitate to contact me, as these machines are not in production, I can do what I want with them, and would be glad to help out. I cannot unfortunately offer remote access to these machines. I was also wondering if there is are any resources I could look at for tuning freebsd, especially on the AS 800, it seems to be very slow. Compared to say, a p3 500, I'd expect the alpha to be a bit nippier. Any info would be welcome. I need change all disks in this server. I have FC-AL isp(4) controller and some FC-AL disks. Controller and disks are tested under freebsd-i386 and freebsd-sparc64 and worked perfectly. So, i have two questions: 1. anybody use isp(4) under freebsd-alpha? 2. can alpha srm boot from isp(4) directly widthout any another disks in system? sorry for my bad english. I am in the process of installing FreeBSD-5.1-RELEASE on it as 5.3-BETA7 panics the kernel and there is no opportunity to even get to the boot loader prompt as the countdown timer goes off in a fraction of a second. With 5.1 /stand/sysinstall does not list mlxd0 as device to disklable but I was able to use bsdlable from the Rescue (liveCD #2) CD-ROM and newfs/mount and cpio the Rescue CD into mlxd0a etc. Next I have to bsdlable the boot block in (I'm guessing) when the cpio finishes. I would like to test and I read phk's E-mail about getting a 5.3-BETA kernel to boot by removing options so I'll be headed in that direction. Is anyone else trying this?
