Ktrace tells me that one of the last things that oracle does before exit(1), is trying to open /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax. That is apparently not implemented by linprocfs. Did anyone get farther than this? -- Regards, Georg. I wonder if anyone has experiences on running Oracle 10g on FreeBSD using Linux emulation and Linux 10g port. I have been using FreeBSD for years and I am not sure if I have to switch to Linux to run Oracle database. I wonder if FreeBSD translation of system call to native BSD table will reduce overall database performance. I want to know if there are sucessful stories about Oracle on FreeBSD and it is a solid combination for high demand servers. I found a couple of "howtos" but they reffer to Oracle 7.x and they dont offer complete information. best regards, --- Fabio Andres Miranda Ingenieria de sistemas informaticos Universidad Latina - Costa Rica From owner-freebsd-database@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Jun 23 12:42:32 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-database@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0A1C616A4CE for ; Wed, 23 Jun 2004 12:42:32 +0000 (GMT) Received: from scotth.emsphone.com (scotth.emsphone.com [199.67.51.179]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B62B043D5F for ; Wed, 23 Jun 2004 12:42:31 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from shildret@scotth.emsphone.com) Received: from scotth.emsphone.com (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by scotth.emsphone.com (8.12.10/8.12.3) with ESMTP id i5NCgL8Q050407; Wed, 23 Jun 2004 07:42:21 -0500 (CDT) (envelope-from shildret@scotth.emsphone.com) Received: (from shildret@localhost) by scotth.emsphone.com (8.12.10/8.12.3/Submit) id i5NCgLCT050406; Wed, 23 Jun 2004 07:42:21 -0500 (CDT) From: "Scott T.
