Manual pages in /usr/local are installed by ports, so this is a problem with the port that has installed the manual page in question. You can run: pkg_info -W /usr/local/man/man1/p2c.1.gz to found out which port it comes from. If you supply the port name the appropriate port maintainer can be notified. --=20 Simon L. These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. The official information is in: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/articles/5-roadmap/index.html However, that gives a date of 29th March as the target; clearly that has been and gone. =20 The current status is that there will be another release from 4-STABLE in the next few weeks (4.10-BETA has just been made available). The next release after that should be 5.3, and as far as I know that is still intended as the point at which the 5-STABLE branch is created. Timescale is probably a couple of months from now. Since there is nothing like "gr_mem_len" anywhere, the NULL termination can be deduced, but explicitly documenting it would be useful. For example, the http://www.cs.vu.nl/pub/minix/2.0.0/wwwman/man3/getgrent.3.html offers Minix' man-page, where the gr_mem is explicitly documented to be NULL-terminated. You may need to review the information below in order to resolve the problem being created on your e-mail account by the W32.Netsky@mm Virus. Best Regards, InterMedia The Internet Communications Network of Haiti http://www.intermediahaiti.com info@intermediahaiti.com ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: The W32.Netsky@mm Virus and what you can do about it. In short: 1) Take the actions recommended here 2) Forward this to everyone you know ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: The W32.Netsky@mm Virus http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_101145.htm has become so highly prevalent on computers that, at the very least, it is no doubt taking up a great deal of your time and energy to delete every day. If your computer is infected you are creating an incredible amount of trouble for your customary correspondents. If you are receiving several of these virus messages a day it means people who have your e-mail address in their address book, or who have received e-mail from you on their computers, have the virus. The only way to hopefully eliminate this virus is to advise all the people in your e-mail address book of its characteristics and the measures which need to be taken to remove it from their computers. The more people you advise, and the more people they advise, the better off we will all be from this nuisance, and it will eventually be brought under control. If not, you potentially face months of deleting tens or even hundreds of messages every day. There are simple removal tools available for free at: http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FxNetsky.exe If you do not have an anti-virus program, or a current subscription allowing you to update your virus definitions, we recommend you repeat this debugging every week. Please take a moment to review what is below in order to verify your own computer, and we recommend you forward this message to everyone you know, because if you did not send us a message, the probability is high, someone who has your address on their computer is infected. Note: The removal procedure may not be successful if Windows Me/XP System Restore is not disabled as previously directed, because Windows prevents outside programs from modifying System Restore. When the tool has finished running, you will see a message indicating whether W32.Netsky@mm infected the computer. Thanks to the volunteers' effort at China, we have finished more than half of the FreeBSD handbook translation, and will check in the FAQ translation soon. While keeping these documentations up-to-date, we hope that more exposure of our work will give it higher quality and benefit more people. While there, update the contact liaison to me. I'm new to freebsd (in fact i'm new to any unix) and i'm trying out your latest current distribution (5.2.1). I came across a small mismatch between my installation and chapter "5.7.4.2 Installing XFce" of the handbook. I was installing the XFCE Desktop environment as described in chapter 5.7.4.2 but noticed a mismatch in the command used to tell the X server to launch XFce on startup. The line used in the handbook is a line which adds "/usr/X11R6/bin/startxfce" to ~/.xinitrc. I noticed the command to start xfce is not "startxfce" but "startxfce4". Maybe this should be changed in the handbook? Well, anyway, thanks for the great OS. I'm really enjoying FreeBSD as the first non-windows OS i'm using at home.
