With help, I managed to track down the first system call causing the crash. One of the Cedega devs. (peteH) helped me hack onto our existing Linux ABI compatibility layer and add code to return ENOSYS for the following system calls: set_thread_area gettid I am unsure why this isn't default behavior (return ENOSYS for syscalls we haven't implemented). I can post a howto later if requested, though a more permanent/non-hack solution should probably be done Anyway, I managed to get Cedega (the commercial version) to run Max Payne at full speed (without sound). There are still problems with it, and the two installers I tried to use with it (GTA3 and Diablo 2) both crashed Cedega. I'm hoping that with more work/support that we might be able to get these issues resolved, unless someone manages to get the native version working instead. I'm running FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE and have the latest official nvidia drivers installed (nVidia GeForce 4 MX 440). The version of Cedega I've been playing around with is version 4.1-1, and it IS commercial (you must pay for it). That's about it. I really should sleep now. :-) -Travis Poppe From owner-freebsd-emulation@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Nov 22 11:01:50 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 47D6016A4CE for ; Mon, 22 Nov 2004 11:01:50 +0000 (GMT) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [216.136.204.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 19BA643D64 for ; Mon, 22 Nov 2004 11:01:50 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@freebsd.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.1/8.13.1) with ESMTP id iAMB1n3I075814 for ; Mon, 22 Nov 2004 11:01:49 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@freebsd.org) Received: (from peter@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.1/8.13.1/Submit) id iAMB1nDB075808 for emulation@freebsd.org; Mon, 22 Nov 2004 11:01:49 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@freebsd.org) Date: Mon, 22 Nov 2004 11:01:49 GMT Message-Id: <200411221101.iAMB1nDB075808@freefall.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: freefall.freebsd.org: peter set sender to owner-bugmaster@freebsd.org using -f From: FreeBSD bugmaster To: emulation@FreeBSD.org Subject: Current problem reports assigned to you X-BeenThere: freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: Development of Emulators of other operating systems List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 22 Nov 2004 11:01:50 -0000 Current FreeBSD problem reports Critical problems S Submitted Tracker Resp.
