I seached the handbook and didn't find anything. I have build my kernel with firewire support and rebooted. I have attached a firewire disk but I'm not sure how to mount it. I do not see any new devices in /dev. Do I need to reboot to see the firewire drive? Is there a daemon that needs to run for hotplugging firewire drives? I was expecting to need a daemon or something for hotplugging. It turns out the disk was NTFS so there was no /dev/da0s1c, only a /dev/da0s1, which I did not recognize immediately. I have a firewire controller but I had no external hard disk connected. After booting from the installation CD these messages came up: fwohci0: BUS reset fwohci0: node_id=3D0xc800ffc1, gen=3D2, CYCLEMASTER mode firewire0: 2 nodes, maxhop <=3D 1, cable IRM =3D 1 (me) firewire0: bus manager 1 (me) firewire0: split transaction timeout dst=3D0xffc0 tl=3D0x2b state=3D3 firewire0: bus_explore node=3D0 addr=3D0x400 resp=3D60 retry=3D1 fwohci0: txd err=3D 3 miss Ack err firewire0: bus_explore node=3D0 addr=3D0x400 resp=3D22 retry=3D2 fwohci0: txd err=3D 3 miss Ack err firewire0: bus_explore node=3D0 addr=3D0x400 resp=3D22 retry=3D3 fwohci0: txd err=3D 3 miss Ack err firewire0: bus_explore node=3D0 addr=3D0x400 resp=3D22 retry=3D4 firewire0: bus_explore failed for 1 nodes Here it is hanging. Under FreeBSD 4.10 the same messages show up but there is no hanging. Switching on an external hard disk some more messages coming up: fwohci0: BUS reset fwohci0: node_id=3D0xc800ffc1, gen=3D4, CYCLEMASTER mode firewire0: 2 nodes, maxhop <=3D 1, cable IRM =3D 1 (me) firewire0: bus manager 1 (me) There was one more info message I forgot to note. After that the boot process was hanging again. --=20 Manfred Wu=DFten Sie schon... ... da=DF Gl=FChbirnen sehr leicht aus der Fassung zu bringen sind?
