Please have a look at the following satements in linprocfs_init() of linprocfs.c file . dir = pfs_create_dir(root, "net", NULL, NULL, 0); pfs_create_file(dir, "dev", &linprocfs_donetdev,NULL, NULL, PFS_WR); Even though we are giving the permission flag as PFS_WR the file is getting created with only read permission .
