I've tried the driver on the cdrom that came with the computer and the latest driver (and some older versions) found on the Dell support site, all with the same results. The card seems to be detected correctly (full dmesg at the end of this email): ndis0: mem 0xfafec000-0xfafedfff irq 11 at device 3.0 on pci2 ndis0: [GIANT-LOCKED] can't re-use a leaf (Country)! can't re-use a leaf (Channel)! ndis0: NDIS API version: 5.0 ndis0: Ethernet address: 00:90:96:af:ef:4d ndis0: 11b rates: 1Mbps 2Mbps 5.5Mbps 11Mbps ndis0: 11g rates: 6Mbps 9Mbps 12Mbps 18Mbps 36Mbps 48Mbps 54Mbps Two observations: 1. When unzipping the .exe, I find the following .sys and .inf files: AR/bcmwl5.inf AR/bcmwl5.sys AR/bcmwl5a.inf dellsys/DELLOMCI.INF dellsys/OMCINT4.SYS dellsys/OMCIWDM.SYS IR/bcmwl5.inf IR/bcmwl5.sys IR/bcmwl5a.inf bcmwlntp.sys The files in dellsys seem inappropriate, AR/bcmwl5.inf and IR/bcmwl5.inf are binary and not accepted by ndiscvt so I tried both the AR/bcmwl5a.inf (with AR/bcmwl5.sys) and IR/bcmwl5a.inf (IR/bcmwl5.sys) which seem to produce loadable if_ndis.ko files that work in 11b mode. Other people on this list mentioned bcmwl5.inf files being used with ndiscvt but the above is all I could find. 2. After loading the international version of the driver, it seems to default to dev.ndis.0.Country=US, I'm in NL and assume that the TrueMobile card I bought here through Dell is the international version too. Setting dev.ndis.0.Country=NL does not seem to cure the problem, leaving it set to US and using the driver for the US also produces the same error message. I reached the end of my rope, any ideas where to look or even how to solve this?
