Anyone know if this is a relative of the Bt878, or is it going to need a whole new driver? It contains two PCI functions, just like the Bt878, though the PCI ids are completely different: none1@pci0:14:0: class=0x040000 card=0x34010070 chip=0x880014f1 rev=0x03 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Conexant Systems, Inc.' class = multimedia subclass = video none2@pci0:14:1: class=0x048000 card=0x34010070 chip=0x881114f1 rev=0x03 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Conexant Systems, Inc.' class = multimedia From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Jan 18 12:23:03 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2E3CC16A4CE for ; Sun, 18 Jan 2004 12:23:03 -0800 (PST) Received: from ms-smtp-03-eri0.southeast.rr.com (ms-smtp-03-lbl.southeast.rr.com [24.25.9.102]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BA37443D53 for ; Sun, 18 Jan 2004 12:22:58 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from conardcox@earthlink.net) Received: from rocket.leaguetrax.com ([66.56.143.0])i0IKMuTe001770 for ; Sun, 18 Jan 2004 15:22:56 -0500 (EST) From: Richard Cox To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Date: Sun, 18 Jan 2004 15:22:55 -0500 User-Agent: KMail/1.5.4 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline Message-Id: <200401181522.55978.conardcox@earthlink.net> X-Virus-Scanned: Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine Subject: No sound volume control in KDE X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list Reply-To: rcox27@triad.rr.com List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 18 Jan 2004 20:23:03 -0000 Hello All, I'm hoping somebody else has encountered and fixed this issue. I just did a fresh install of freebsd 5.2 RC2, and have everything working nicely including sound (emu10k1). The only problem I have is that kmix cannot adjust the sound volume. Mixer works fine, but once I get into KDE, KMix lets me move the slider around all I want to, but the volume doesn't change one bit. I have the sound set to AUTODETECT in the KDE control panel, and I know artsd can handle the sound output. I've tried the OSS setting as well, but it didn't make any difference. Any ideas of things to try/look into? Hello Pyun, First let me say thanks for taking to create and submit this patch. I'm going to try to test this at the end of the day, my machine won't be available for crashing until then. To the other member of the -mm list. I'm very interested in testing and committing this soon. Could we all please try and test it. In particular I would like to know if mplayer creates garbage noise in between songs and if very short samples (<1 sec, or the size of the buffer) play. A Yes/Nay would be very helpful. This is not very efficient and it fills up a lot diskspace with the same image. Are there any apps that will allow me to store video only if there is some activity. I had a look at motion.sourceforge.net, but it requires a video4linux driver and does not compile on FreeBSD.
