I've got an old dual processor box (two 233mhz Pentiums) running Linux with
a 2.4.22 kernel. I was thinking of trying FreeBSD. Will FreeBSD support
this older configuration?

It should work fine, but the SMP code in 5.x isn't well tested on certain
older MP Tables, so there's a chance it might only work with SMP disabled for
now until I can fix the problems with older MP Tables.

It ought to in theory. I'm sure it's not well tested though.

Just reading topic 4.2.16 of the installation instructions
for 5.3R: onboard ethernet will not work on (dual?) Net-
finities 3500 :-(

Will this be resolved (is anybody working on it) in the
future?

Just in case some IBM guys are reading this list: would
somebody working at IBM consider to push/convince the BIOS
people to release a BIOS for this machine without the broken
MP table?
