I have a Matrox G450 PCI card in my machine and I'm trying to at least get xfree86 up and running. At this point, absolutely nothing is getting written to /var/log/XFree86.0.log when I run xinit. During the process of starting X, the whole machine will lock up (console, remote sessions, everything) which requires a power-cycle to fix. Along similar lines... Matrox has a utility called "powerdesk" which is supposed to help create a more usable xfree86 config for their video cards, however getting this to compile under freebsd 5.2.1 has been an adventure so far. Has anyone gotten this to build cleanly under freebsd 5.2.1? jms From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Apr 6 19:19:10 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2C97E16A4CE; Tue, 6 Apr 2004 19:19:10 -0700 (PDT) Received: from gentoo.ahze.net (adsl-068-209-163-003.sip.clt.bellsouth.net [68.209.163.3]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 59A4343D60; Tue, 6 Apr 2004 19:19:09 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from ahze@gentoo.ahze.net) Received: from gentoo.ahze.net (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by gentoo.ahze.net (8.12.11/8.12.11) with ESMTP id i372Hf42083873; Tue, 6 Apr 2004 22:17:42 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from ahze@gentoo.ahze.net) Received: (from root@localhost) by gentoo.ahze.net (8.12.11/8.12.11/Submit) id i372HfFw083872; Tue, 6 Apr 2004 22:17:41 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from ahze) Date: Tue, 6 Apr 2004 22:17:41 -0400 (EDT) Message-Id: <200404070217.i372HfFw083872@gentoo.ahze.net> To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@freebsd.org From: michael johnson X-send-pr-version: 3.113 X-GNATS-Notify: cc: x11@freebsd.org Subject: [PATCH] devel/imake: [Respect CC & CXX (which will respect CC&CXX on almost every port that uses imake] X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 07 Apr 2004 02:19:10 -0000 >Submitter-Id: current-users >Originator: michael johnson >Organization: >Confidential: no >Synopsis: [PATCH] devel/imake: [Respect CC & CXX (which will respect CC&CXX on almost every port that uses imake] >Severity: non-critical >Priority: medium >Category: ports >Class: change-request >Release: FreeBSD 5.2-CURRENT i386 >Environment: System: FreeBSD gentoo.ahze.net 5.2-CURRENT FreeBSD 5.2-CURRENT #37: Sat Mar 27 18:30:44 EST 2004 >Description: - Respect CC & CXX - Remove lib/X11/doc/html/manindex1.html from pkg-plist (does not install and is not in ${WRKSRC} anywhere.) Apparently 4.4 builds more shared libraries by default and among them is also libXRes with version 1. I've also attached what (for now at least) seems to be diff between 4.3 pkg-plist and 4.4 one.
