This has been tested on i386, alpha and sparc64, and pkg-plist files have been verified on these archs. Unfortunately I haven't got AMD64 or ia64 to play with so I can not check pkg-plists there, which mostly affects the Server port. As I took XFree86-4-Server-snap as starting point for the Server port and it is marked as BROKEN on AMD64, I don't even know if it compiles there, but I suspect something should be added in scripts/configure, similar to other architectures. If somebody is already working on upgrading these ports, I do apologise for intruding. If however this makes some sense as a starting point, I would be happy if someone can help me get this finished and submitted in a way that would be easiest to commit. In any case, I am now running XFree86 4.4 port on my desktop on current and if nothing else, the default colors for xterm are changed, so the default for directories in ls is much more visible :) Hope that this helps in some way. Judging from this patch and xfree cvs commit message here: http://www.mail-archive.com/cvs-commit%40xfree86.org/msg03444.html this could be fixed by taking some diffs from xfree cvs. If this is true, this patch: http://www.ijs.si/software/stuff/xfree-server-patches/patch-programs-Xserver-fb-fb.h should get you past your next error, and I'll extract other patches from this commit. If not, though, you can try same change from your patch to programs/Xserver/fb/fb.h on line 109. Hope this helps... I did, and I also removed files/patch-Imake.cf from libraries port and from Server Makefile. I don't know why this patch didn't fail to apply as the changes from this patch are already in source, but as far as I can see it was a no-op even when applied. BTW, does the cvsweb interface help in any way, should I rearange stuff like they are in your tarball (ie devel/imake-4 instead of just imake-4)? Also feel free to kick me if I made some mistake while incorporating patches.. Furthermore there are now XFree86-4-NestServer, XFree86-4-PrintServer and XFree86-4-VirtualFramebufferServer. The trouble here is that file lib/X11/xserver/SecurityPolicy is listed in Server, NestServer and VirtualFramebufferServer so I wander what would be best way to deal with this. Well if it is driver dependant it is definetly a regression, since it worked fine in 4.3. An XFree Update requires a lot of testing. > > You might want to add this to your CVS Repository. > I did, and I also removed files/patch-Imake.cf from libraries port and from > Server Makefile. The reason why I rearranged stuff in my tarball, is because XFree86-4-libraries fails to compile if it is not in a directory called x11. It took my a while to find this out. Several other ports refer to other ports with relative paths. > Furthermore there are now XFree86-4-NestServer, XFree86-4-PrintServer and > XFree86-4-VirtualFramebufferServer. Well we have to think about this. Perhaps we need some kind of TODO list. We could also note, which drivers of the Server we tested. Thank you very much. I will try to test your changes over the weekend. This last version apparently fixes the problem with killing server by ctrl+alt+backspace. I have nvidia fx 5200 and had the same problem as arved at first. Even worse, when I tried startx (instead of just X) the screen would go flashing in a way that probably shortened life of an old, even otherwise molested monitor. After your changes startx works and I can kill it. I'll play some more tomorrow after I search amd64 mailing lists and similar why network appears to freeze now and then. Anyway, I've added these changes to http://www.ijs.si/software/freebsd-local/cvsweb.cgi and made a new bundle here: http://www.ijs.si/software/stuff/xfree44-ports_20040417b.tar.gz I hope you don't mind if I took a bit different approach for pkg-plist - I added a new variable %%AMD64_I386%% which is supposed to mean amd64 or i386. For dri I just fixed the plist, rather than generating it with find, because I'm not sure if if this is the right approach regarding updating and such (someone might put some file there as a note or something; or one could use some 3rd party driver). I should also fix list of manpages for alpha, but I'm too sleepy now. Also about the pkg-plist in -Server: perhaps the approach taken in emulators/linux_base with separate files for each architecture might be more elegant. I hope I wasn't too verbose and thanks again for patches.
