If you installed XML::Parser perl module through CPAN, then this is how it gets recorded in package database (via BSDPAN module). There's nothing wrong with this, however you could use 'pkgdb -F' to point its origin to textproc/p5-XML-Parser. As for kdemultimedia, are you using pkg_add remote fetching feature (pkg_add -r)? If not and you only downloaded kdemultimedia package from somewhere, you would need to download all the missing dependencies also. If you're already using -r then it would seem that kdemultimedia-mpeglib_artsplug-3.3.0 dependency is missing from package repository. FreeBSD KDE list (kde@FreeBSD.org) might know more about it. I'm using my FreeBSD-5.3 desktop to run Purify, that runs on a Solaris server. The program's window comes up fine, and I'm able to access most of the widgets in it, except for the top-level menus: 'File', 'View', etc. -- nothing happens, when I click on them. This used to work for me on this desktop and continues to work if I try from another X-server. I have no idea, what could've changed to affect it. I'm using xorg-6.7.0_1 and dependents. Things like dtterm, which also uses Motif, come up fine and their menus are accessible. Any ideas? To see how this would work, one just needs to rename for example /usr/X11R6/man/man4/mouse.4.gz to /usr/X11R6/man/man4/mouse.4x.gz. In case of manpages that only come with X (like s3virge(4)) adding x postfix doesn't prevent one to still get a manpage with 'man 4 s3virge'. I don't see downsides to this at the moment, but there might be some. As far as I understand the problem seems to be in getting to X manpages when there already exist manpages with the same name. In case of mouse(4), one needs to do something like 'man -a mouse' and then skip the first (kernel driver) page. Would this be a sensible solution to the problem? Are there any downsides to this? So here's a new one that should: http://www.ijs.si/~lesi/xorg-681-up-5.diff It includes a fix for manpages dependency in XFree86 metaport I forgot last time. I've left dri dependency in X.Org metaport commented out for now as dri update is not yet included. From: Dejan Lesjak To: freebsd-gnats-submit@freebsd.org, ahze@ahze.net Cc: Subject: Re: ports/65277: [PATCH] devel/imake-4: [Respect CC & CXX (which will respect CC&CXX on almost every port that uses imake] Date: Sat, 6 Nov 2004 19:52:43 +0100 Unfortunately, the suggested patch would only provide different set of defaults for CC, CXX and CPP that would be available at imake compile time. These are, however, only defaults. The build infrastructure, already takes into account the values of those variables. In other words these variables get put in Makefiles created by imake, but they can be overriden following usual make(1) rules. At least X11 ports (XFree86-4-libraries for example) do respect these variables on command line or in /etc/make.conf no matter what the setting in FreeBSD.cf is. Are there any particular ports that have problems with this?
