If you do not speak Dutch and/or do not have the slightest idea what MAC is, save yourself some time and choose to delete this email now. Well, we do have the right audience now. Thanks for reading on! As you may or may not know, about 8 months ago an effort to translate the FreeBSD Handbook to Dutch was started. Most of the 'straight forward' chapters have now been taken care of and I have (probably) made the error to start working on translating the chapter on MAC. And believe me: I do not have the slightest idea if what I write down in Dutch is the correct translation (may be a bit exaggerated, but not too much). Thus I'd like to get some help from someone who actually does know what MAC is and who has actual exprience with it to review the translation before we might publish garbage. If you feel you are that person, please contact me directly, send an email to The FreeBSD Dutch Documentation Project [1], join some members of our team on #bsddocs [2] or just check out the preview version of the MAC chapter translation and flame the hell out of us [2][3]. Cheers! These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. Date: Mon, 14 Feb 2005 13:08:07 -0600 Well, here is a patch that simply incorporates jhb's figures. I'm cc'ing both jhb and bmah (I beg pardon if this is inbox clutter), as I am certainly not qualified to be authoritative on this, and don't wish to start any forest fires, either. I guess we point "minimalist" types to picobsd more often now? After all, even a 24MB box is rather rare these days, I'd suspect.... Perhaps the doc committers (ceri?) can let us know? This change-request is due to the word list in the fdp primer book. According to it, the FreeBSD Documentation Project should write CDROM instead of CD-ROM. I remember your pr, as well as some others trying to substitute CDROM with CD-ROM. I have followed up prs to use the same rule but at this point it is hard to change everything to an specific way to spell it (even more if we are talking about changing everything to CD-ROM), that is why I requested this change. It is hard to really tell how it should be written right now, I'm just trying to follow the rule stated. Thanks for the comment, I think it would be a great idea to define how this should be done. -- Jesus R. I've seen this on all my 5.3 systems. On RELENG_5_3, yes. But `make world DESTDIR=$D` seems to work fine under the RELENG_5 branch, though. -- -jpeg. No, it's not broken, but you either have to define HISTORICAL_MAKE_WORLD or use buildworld and installworld separately. As Xin Li told it should work in conjunction with DESTDIR nevertheless. The problem is that 'make world DESTDIR=3D/foo' is broken for RELENG_5_3, but it was already fixed in RELENG_5. I missed that.
