It's still a branch that's being supported by both the Security Officer and Release Engineering teams (Errata Branch) but we're going to drop the ability to do FTP-based installs leaving just the ISOs as a means to install it. By now users are also best off not using the packages as built at the release time - some have known vulnerabilities and that sort of thing. It's best if they find a means to update the packages that wind up on their systems. I'll do the removal some time this coming weekend so that sites that like to keep the older versions around have time to make arrangements so they don't get removed by the next sync from ftp-master. --=20 Ken Smith - From there to here, from here to | kensmith@cse.buffalo.edu there, funny things are everywhere. | - Theodore Geisel | --=-+2U9qnZinf8gKC6RzpVe Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQBCOD8q/G14VSmup/YRAt/EAJwKZ80fF8oxIzfk0y47RqHEkb7HiwCfQUMN YRKD/8ZbyZ7LLJvvan/McF8= =7j+g -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --=-+2U9qnZinf8gKC6RzpVe-- From owner-freebsd-hubs@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Mar 16 16:27:38 2005 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B1C5816A534 for ; Wed, 16 Mar 2005 16:27:38 +0000 (GMT) Received: from mail01.solnet.ch (mail01.solnet.ch [212.101.4.135]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 24CE943D31 for ; Wed, 16 Mar 2005 16:27:38 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from mirror@solnet.ch) Received: from mail01.solnet.ch ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (mail01.solnet.ch [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with LMTP id 07707-01-71; Wed, 16 Mar 2005 16:27:35 +0000 (GMT) Received: from bert.mlan.solnet.ch (bert.mlan.solnet.ch [212.101.1.83]) by mail01.solnet.ch (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8E035639B1; Wed, 16 Mar 2005 16:27:34 +0000 (GMT) From: Thomas Vogt To: Ken Smith In-Reply-To: <1110982442.86306.34.camel@opus.cse.buffalo.edu> References: <1110982442.86306.34.camel@opus.cse.buffalo.edu> Content-Type: text/plain Organization: SolNet ISP Date: Wed, 16 Mar 2005 17:26:39 +0100 Message-Id: <1110990399.7451.18.camel@bert.mlan.solnet.ch> Mime-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Evolution 2.2.0 FreeBSD GNOME Team Port Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at mail01.solnet.ch cc: tv@solnet.ch cc: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org cc: mirror@solnet.ch Subject: Re: Removal of packages-4.10-release and 4.10-RELEASE ftp-install directory X-BeenThere: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD Distributions Hubs: mail sup ftp List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 16 Mar 2005 16:27:38 -0000 Hello We (ftp2.ch.freebsd.org) try to keep all 4.10 release related files. I won't be removing the ISO-IMAGES/4.10 from ftp-master at this point but it won't hurt for you to protect them. It will be the stuff in the last four lines you have above that I'll be removing from ftp-master at this point. Nothing else.
