Often, these ports are so marked due to security concerns, such as known exploits. An overview of the port, including errors seen on the build farm, is included below. portname: java/linux-blackdown-jdk13 forbidden because: Vulnerabilities in the browser plugin build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.firepipe.net/portoverview.py?category=java&portname=linux-blackdown-jdk13 portname: java/linux-ibm-jdk13 forbidden because: Vulnerabilities in the browser plugin build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.firepipe.net/portoverview.py?category=java&portname=linux-ibm-jdk13 If this problem is one that you are already aware of, please accept our apologies and ignore this message. On the other hand, if you no longer wish to maintain this port (or ports), please reply with a message stating that, and accept our thanks for your efforts in the past. Thanks for your efforts to help improve FreeBSD. I think your best course of action would be to upgrade to 5.3, or -stable. I don't know what are the problems you encountered, but I bet you would get far more help for something that is supposed to be working, than for a combination (5.2+gcc34) that few, if any, have on their systems, or even care for. In any case this is not a -java issue, you might want to try -hackers or -current. Thanks Yes you will have to use the JNI api. Try googling "java jni icmp". If you are just after a ping I am sure there are quite a few examples out there. This appeared to be a problem with the "compat" stuff for Linux Compatibility, so I unlinked the link to the referenced library and then tried to build the RedHat compatibility libs. These fail too, but they look like they can't "un-RPM" some of the stuff. This REALLY almost looks like something "snuck in" from some other build. >How-To-Repeat: For me, all I need to do is put the appropriate stuff in the /usr/ports/distfiles, and then compile it with "make". If I type "make clean" it cleans everything properly, and then by typing "make", it once again goes through the process of building until it hits the error I'm reporting. FWIW, the 4.11 binaries were downloaded and cut into ISO images (in other words, I didn't buy them from a kit). Also, FWIW, the compilation succeeds and cursory tests indicate that Java is working on a 5.2 release I have on another machine. >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Mar 4 08:04:16 2005 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C4EE316A4CE for ; Fri, 4 Mar 2005 08:04:16 +0000 (GMT) Received: from mxsf22.cluster1.charter.net (mxsf22.cluster1.charter.net [209.225.28.222]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 67F1643D3F for ; Fri, 4 Mar 2005 08:04:16 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from c0ldbyte@myrealbox.com) Received: from mxip15.cluster1.charter.net (mxip15a.cluster1.charter.net [209.225.28.145])j2484FO7015616 for ; Fri, 4 Mar 2005 03:04:15 -0500 Received: from 24.247.253.134.gha.mi.chartermi.net (HELO eleanor.us1.wmi.uvac.net) (24.247.253.134) by mxip15.cluster1.charter.net with ESMTP; 04 Mar 2005 03:04:16 -0500 X-Ironport-AV: i="3.90,134,1107752400"; d="scan'208"; a="794623318:sNHT12454868" Date: Fri, 4 Mar 2005 03:04:12 -0500 (EST) From: c0ldbyte To: Bill Wagner In-Reply-To: <200503040734.j247Y7YH055597@www.freebsd.org> Message-ID: <20050304030045.C639@eleanor.us1.wmi.uvac.net> References: <200503040734.j247Y7YH055597@www.freebsd.org> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed cc: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Subject: Re: java/78396: Java 1.4 fails to compile under FreeBSD 4.11 X-BeenThere: freebsd-java@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting Java to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 04 Mar 2005 08:04:16 -0000 Upgrade your ports with (cvsup). the current version of of the jdk is listed below because 06 has exploits/etc... wrong with it.
