I just got a prism 2.5 card and I noticed that most of the tools used for raw packet injection run under linux with little info towards freebsd. I'd like to stick with freebsd for= this project, so any help would be appreciated. I haven't studied your report too much but I'd like to point out that atheros and wireless support in general is probably going to be much better in 6.0. I've already reported several problems which have been fixed in -CURRENT and will be in 6.0. Any ideas? Try debugging at the 802.11 layer; much less noise (see 80211debug). > Aug 11 08:21:18 kloboucek kernel: ath0: association failed (reason 12) for According to sys/net80211/ieee80211.h this is: IEEE80211_REASON_RSN_INCONSISTENT = 12, which sounds like you're trying to use WPA or WPA2 or trying to talk to an ap that has WPA2 enabled. But since this is 5.x you have no WPA support so I've no idea what's going on. 'wi' and 'ath' cards do, possible some others as well, check the driver man pages ('man 4 wi', etc.). -Chris From owner-freebsd-mobile@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Aug 12 21:42:10 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id DDF1916A41F for ; Fri, 12 Aug 2005 21:42:09 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from newsgoodforyou@yahoo.com) Received: from web53608.mail.yahoo.com (web53608.mail.yahoo.com [206.190.37.41]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 542D643D45 for ; Fri, 12 Aug 2005 21:42:09 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from newsgoodforyou@yahoo.com) Received: (qmail 66689 invoked by uid 60001); 12 Aug 2005 21:42:08 -0000 DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; q=dns; c=nofws; s=s1024; d=yahoo.com; h=Message-ID:Received:Date:From:Subject:To:In-Reply-To:MIME-Version:Content-Type:Content-Transfer-Encoding; b=GMrtT/w0M7fOhw+ALrK2dF3D6VmUftbWuvnILXUKsyRt9nATKHKF6doFmi8HGgx7IQbtDOFZQDTu/txn6gPhE0dgRibmBi9q12aitwaJrJENUAFrxbFCMTKxa+THYwhOpoUwbCMR1yvWngHRCDf6gYPVQkt8MnMc4gR+1UI+XnM= ; Message-ID: <20050812214208.66687.qmail@web53608.mail.yahoo.com> Received: from [67.189.97.181] by web53608.mail.yahoo.com via HTTP; Fri, 12 Aug 2005 14:42:08 PDT Date: Fri, 12 Aug 2005 14:42:08 -0700 (PDT) From: "Steven F. I haven't studied your report too much but I'd like to point out that atheros and wireless support in general is probably going to be much better in 6.0. I've already reported several problems which have been fixed in -CURRENT and will be in 6.0. Michal ---------------END QUOTE------------------------------------------------------- Steven Here: I have seen this happen to me also, but with wi instead. My friend has Linksys WRT54G with broadcasting turned off, but he gave me the SSID so I could connect to it. Anyways, what happens is that we can get my Stinkpad 380ED (yeah, it IS old) to see the network and ping and all that jaz, but we cannot get the Stinkpad onto the internet. --------------------------------- Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page
