Bartosz point me out that we have an uncommitted port for native quake3: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=84853 and others. I have tried and it works just fine on my latitude d600. The only thing I had to do is to install the dri (dri-devel) port to have 3d accelleration on my radeon card. The port mantainer, who is reading in cc, could think to close and commit the prs ? It uses the snd_t4dwave driver and each time I try to use the software I get this error: "pcm0:record:0: record interrupt timeout, channel dead". It must be something in this driver because it works with my home computer using the emu10k1 (SBLive) driver. Is there some solution for this problem? I suggest you to use this tarball instead: http://people.freebsd.org/~ariff/snd_RELENG_5_20051009_054.tar.gz tar -zxf snd_RELENG_5_20051009_054.tar.gz -C /usr/src/ Again, as I've stated in my previous post: Your entire playback channel goes haywire by not returning appropriate sound format. Nothing can be done, even with this patch. Perhaps you can try replacing all your /usr/src/sys/dev/sound/usb/ sources from HEAD/CURRENT branch instead. -- Ariff Abdullah MyBSD http://www.MyBSD.org.my (IPv6/IPv4) http://staff.MyBSD.org.my (IPv6/IPv4) http://tomoyo.MyBSD.org.my (IPv6/IPv4) From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Oct 21 16:30:09 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: multimedia@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A673916A41F for ; Fri, 21 Oct 2005 16:30:09 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from andreas@klemm.apsfilter.org) Received: from srv1.cosmo-project.de (srv1.cosmo-project.de [213.83.6.106]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C110743D46 for ; Fri, 21 Oct 2005 16:30:08 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from andreas@klemm.apsfilter.org) Received: from srv1.cosmo-project.de (localhost [IPv6:::1]) by srv1.cosmo-project.de (8.12.10/8.12.10) with ESMTP id j9LGU5JG077816 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=EDH-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA bits=168 verify=NO); Fri, 21 Oct 2005 18:30:06 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from andreas@klemm.apsfilter.org) Received: (from uucp@localhost) by srv1.cosmo-project.de (8.12.10/8.12.10/Submit) with UUCP id j9LGU5HT077815; Fri, 21 Oct 2005 18:30:05 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from andreas@klemm.apsfilter.org) Received: from titan.klemm.apsfilter.org (localhost.klemm.apsfilter.org [127.0.0.1]) by klemm.apsfilter.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id j9LGSjYf007947; Fri, 21 Oct 2005 18:28:45 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from andreas@titan.klemm.apsfilter.org) Received: (from andreas@localhost) by titan.klemm.apsfilter.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id j9LGSgoI007946; Fri, 21 Oct 2005 18:28:42 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from andreas) Date: Fri, 21 Oct 2005 18:28:42 +0200 From: Andreas Klemm To: multimedia@freebsd.org Message-ID: <20051021162842.GB7813@titan.klemm.apsfilter.org> References: <20051021101046.GA14976@titan.klemm.apsfilter.org> <20051021234238.6de3811b.skywizard@MyBSD.org.my> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <20051021234238.6de3811b.skywizard@MyBSD.org.my> X-Operating-System: FreeBSD 6.0-RC1 X-Disclaimer: A free society is one where it is safe to be unpopular User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.11 Cc: Ariff Abdullah Subject: Re: 6.0RC1: playback speed of mp3 and .wav files approx 10% slower X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 21 Oct 2005 16:30:09 -0000 On Fri, Oct 21, 2005 at 11:42:38PM +0800, Ariff Abdullah wrote: > That is weird, considering that nothing has changed for RELENG_6 sound > driver, and because of that of course RELENG_6 still plagued with the > infamous virtual channel speed problems. Well yes, things I changed are: a) set default volume to 90%, since I experience kind of distortion at 100%. /boot/device.hints: hint.pcm.0.vol="90" b) and then indeed I enabled virtual sound channels according to FreeBSD Handbook, 7.2.3: /etc/syscontl.conf: hw.snd.pcm0.vchans=4 hw.snd.maxautovchans=4 I will test this now without virtual channels. I can confirm now that my switching to virtual channels 2 days ago caused the slowdown. Without virtual settings I have to disable sound in KDE, otherwise artsd seem to occupie the sounddevice entirely. Although I think that it already worked concurrently at the moment xmms only runs, if sound is disabled in kde. My mainboard is a MSI K8N Neo2 with nForce 3 Ultra chipset. Now it seems as if again something is broken. On the other hand my system also changed. My new computer has more usb hubs, maybe this is a show stopper here. I remember somebody mentioning that "usb subdevices" (don't remember exact term) are not supported with kernel/libusb ?? usbdevs command shows: addr 1: OHCI root hub, nVidia addr 1: OHCI root hub, nVidia addr 3: Canon Digital Camera, Canon Inc. addr 2: Protected Executer, Syncrosoft addr 1: EHCI root hub, nVidia But I cannot detect any camera using gphoto. Since gphoto2's debugging output was quite long (~70K) I attach it gnu zipped. dmesg output: Copyright (c) 1992-2005 The FreeBSD Project.
